Weak, pathetic, spineless bastards. Didn't have the balls to negotiate for infrastructure only legislation, they should have just said no deal to the first trillion dollar bill if they knew they were going to shove another $3.5T in deficit spending down everyone's throats.

Senate approves bipartisan $1T infrastructure plan in win for Biden

The Republican 'party' isn't a real thing. It's simply better if the voters believe they have a choice.

I'd vote libertarian if they weren't all wack jobs. Where is the TEA party or similar? We need a party that doesn't bow down to the D's.

"Despite this long road we have taken, we have finally reached the finish line," Schumer said.

The GOP members who voted in favor of the $1 trillion bill were Sens. Roy Blunt of Missouri, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, John Hoeven of North Dakota, Deb Fischer of Nebraska, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Jim Risch of Idaho, Mitt Romney of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Roger Wicker of Mississippi.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

This was a cloture vote; so if <10 GOP Senators voted in favor it would not have passed.
Look at all the senators from red states. I hope they get swept away.

I know it probably would not made much difference, but it is a kick in the balls to see republicans vote for this full of pork, inflation generating left wing bill. Spineless bastards.

The point to vote on it if they they had any balls would be fine, we'll vote for your crappy bill and take some infrastructure improvements along with the BS. Nope, when they said next move after we pass this 'bipartisan' is to ram more down your throats after we pass bill #1, they should have said force it all on the US population and see what they say next November. Now they are complicit if this massive spending scheme.

This isn't some trivial matter. $1.9T COVID, $1.2T somewhat infrastructure, $3.5T fake infrastructure. That's $6.6T in new spending. That's nearly a third of our GDP and nearly double our total annual tax revenues.

We can not afford this.

The best part is all the things that come in the $3.5T plan including amnesty for illegal aliens.

We are fucked.

Right now 30T debt at 1% is 300B interest a year, which isn't too bad. The era of low inflation is largely because of durable goods imported from low cost countries. If inflation hits hard, interest rates have to go up because investors at least need to beat inflation. 5% annual inflation means we need 5% interest rates just to attract investors to T-bills. That raises the debt payment to 1.5T a year which is not going to be able to be paid without borrowing even more at higher interest rates. And that means default.

The only way out is allowing high inflation to make the current debt effectively lower. A few years of 10-20% inflation and the debt will effectively be halved.

20 years of near zero interest rates have encouraged excessive borrowing, and it is all dependent on cheap goods imported from Asia keeping inflation measures down. If China unpegs the RMB from the dollar and it reaches its real value relative to the dollar - 4:1 instead of 6.5:1 - prices here will go up a lot. And if you don't think China is waiting for just the right time to hit us with this you are very naive. Once we hit real inflation and T-bill % goes up enough to make the U.S. Government insolvent, they will unpeg the RMB and attempt to crash our economy.

Once again China is playing the long game and our idiot politicians can only see as far as the next election cycle.

Politicians for the most part are interested in staying in power and getting rich, regardless of their political affiliation. I despise them all for what they are doing to OUR country.
