I'm curious if anyone else here has dealt with this. I have a bump on my cheek 1/2" from my nose, Dermatologist looked at it 3-4 years ago, and said just keep an eye on it, if it changes at all come back. Well, it started to bleed every now and then, so I went and saw another Dermatologist, he took a biopsy of it last week, results just came back as Basal Cell Carcinoma. He is getting me an appointment to have it surgically removed. He further states it is the most common form of skin cancer, and is really nothing to worry about.

I've had 3 of them on my left arm and had Mohs procedures done to remove them. Nothing to worry about. They're very common.

Had one on my calf about 1"x1/2". The only problem was the Dr designated to close the cut did not know how to sew. She had stitchs going in all directions as it was her first time.

I had Basel cell on my temple a few years ago

I was diagnosed at the range. I was just arriving and a dermatologist was just leaving. He looked at me and said it was Basel cell and to call his office and tell the receptionist I had talked with him.

Removed with next to no scar.

I had one removed this past June from the top of my hand. Mohs surgery is the way to go. I was lucky, they got it all the first time around, so not too bad. I think I ended up with 8 or 9 stitches. Healed up nice, you can barely noticed it now. Good luck!

Best kind of cancer to have. I would use a plastic surgeon to eliminate scarring.

I received the same counsel when I was diagnosed with BCC. If you have to have cancer, that is the one to get, no huge deal.

(As luck would have it, the biopsy came up negative, and a second test confirmed. Turned out to be just a bad scratch.)

I had a growth right in the middle of my forehead that went from a small bump to an about 3/16" long "worm" in about six months. Dermatologist said it looked to him more like a squamous cell than a BCC. He sliced it off and the site was healed a couple of days later. Never got the pathology results, although they were happy to send me the bill for the lab work.

I developed a BCC about midway between the corner of my L eye and my L nostril. My dermatologist is a certified MOHS surgeon and she dug a trench there and pronounced the margins clean. At first, I thought the surgery gave me kind of a sinister appearance, and I told her I didn’t particularly want to look like a Bond villain. She laughed and said she could make a small incision up near my eye that would relax the skin a bit more. I decided to wait and give it more time to fully heal. I don’t think you can tell I had it now. Pretty easy really. Apparently BCC just doesn’t move or go metastatic. No sweat.

I hope you did not pay it. Follow up calls get results. People often assume things are fine if they do not hear back.

I had a BCC on the bridge of my nose.

I had the MOHS surgery.

Recovered and I have a scar going all the way down the middle of my nose.

I should have had a plastic surgery but I didn’t think about it.

You can mostly only see the scar if I crinkle my nose.

In the future whenever you see someone with the white bandage on them, you will ask MOHS?

You will be fine…

Was diagnosed with a small Basal Cell lesion on my chest 13 years ago. Dr. says "If you're going to have a cancer, this is the one to get" as it is one of the least aggressive malignancies.

They did the surgery, not MOHS due to the location. There is a slight scar but there have been no recurrences.

I’ve had at least a half dozen BCCs, and Mohs surgery to excise them. BCCs rarely metastasize.

I had it on the side of my nose several years ago. They cut away one slice at a time until they got it all out. I have a small scar on the side of my nose. No biggy. Dermatologist said it’s the most common type of cancer and if you are going to get one this is the one to get.

Had one removed from my chest by my Dermatologist about 30 years ago.

Lets just say he was not too concerned about how the stiches looked.

Never had another.

No big deal! Don't sweat the small stuff. I've had so many I've lost count. Numerous Squamous Cell Carcinomas too. Them are the worster kind. One on my right cheek, below the eye, I refused plastic surgery, left with 3 inch scar. Great for Talk Like a Pirate day. Gives me a rugged look Smile

Six so far over last 20 years. Have a 6-month standing appointment with dermatologist who burns on average 10-15 pre-cancerous spots at every visit. Curse of being fair haired and blue-eyed ancestry who spent his youth out in the sun. No problems other than minor inconvenience and a few scares.

General ABCDE rules for "moles" that require more special attention and action than just watching and waiting.

1- Mole that has different Appearances within itself.
2- Irregular Border
3- Mole that has more than one shade of Colors.
4- Large in Diameter
5- Rapidly Evolving in size, shape, character (like bleeding)

Get a biopsy, if you experience these. Insist on it. It might save your life. My BIL, who already had melanoma and was being treated, had a new mole that the derm guy blew it off as nothing. It kept growing and ulcerating, and by the time it was biopsied, it was melanoma and was all over his arm and was too late.
