My parents' 50th anniversary is coming up. We are throwing a party for them with close friends and family. Any ideas for a (reasonably priced) gift, since I've already tapped most of my budget out on the party, unfortunately?

They like to travel and like to keep up their house. Alternately, I may just donate to one of their favorite charities.

We gave the gift of time. Dinner out with the kids and no grandkids, once a month for a year. Worked out pretty well aside from the scheduling, and I think they appreciated the monthly focus on the the family they created.

For my parents, we got a family pic professional shoot.

If they are like my parents, they are in the process of downsizing, and that is something that can be kept in the family for generations.

50th=Gold.

For my Step-Grandparents 50th Anniversary dinner, my father bought a clear plastic box, maybe twice as big as a shoe box, and bought 50 goldfish! Made a great centerpiece for the head table. No body got drunk enough to swallow a goldfish.

For my daughter's In Laws 50th, my wife and I made a large white cardboard Anniversary card with 50 Golden Dollars stuck kinside with double sided sticky tape.

^^^ This right here
We did that for both my parents and my inlaws at different times and they both loved it.
Also, another idea along the same lines.. My sons went thru some old photo albums of when they were little kids and pulled pics of the two of them together. One was on dirt bikes, another was them wearing my hunting outfits, etc. Then they recreated the theme of the pics in modern day, with their current street bikes but the same poses. One of their girlfriends had all the pics mounted into a framed gift. My wife absolutely loved it.

For our 50th our kids gave us a party with friends and family. They had some old photos around. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. We could not ask for any thing more.

We sent my parents on a cruise out of Galveston.

They had never been on a cruise.
