Congrats. My longest ride was to Daytona with my first stop in Savannah. Way short of 1K (743) but epic for me. 37 degrees the morning I left Ohio.

I did one about 15 years ago. It wasn't that hard becuse I used my annual trip from NY to MS to make it happen.

Looks like a good choice.
Not sure if the Vulcan S nor the Scout in my garage would be ideal; both being fairing/windshield-less.

My father-in-law has been talking about doing a 4-5 hour ride. Maybe we can turn that into a prequel to a SS.

Decades ago my riding partners and I would make the annual pilgrimage to Daytona Bike week from Cincinnati.
One year Daytona police escorted us to the city limits and told us they didn't want to see us again. And we weren't even in the brawl in question! Anyway, after paying fines and gassing up we were low on funds. We hit it north stopping only for gas, couple of rear chain adjustments and the like. Made it back to base in 20 hours with less than $5.00 between all three of us. Not bad for 3 Harleys with no windshields or fairings.

Good eyes HRK! I did not have a current picture and just scrolled through the phone to find the current one. Taken back on March 1st, before the lockdown in front of the local BBQ place (LD’s in East Troy).

I’ll see if I can get some stills from my buddy’s video...or post a video even.

I have done a ss1k, ended up just over 1100 miles straight. Valparaiso IN to Colorado Springs. I did because I had a buddy that did all the work. I don’t mind a good 600-700 mile day but that was a bit much on a bike.

Here is the video of us crossing "the Mac". I did not add an audio track, so if you want to hear the Harley-Davidson rumble keep the volume up. I also apologize for the lack of wipers on the shield.

I'm a big fan of the Garmin products. The Virb 30 is what I have been using and have the powered waterproof enclosure mounted on the bike. There is all kinds of "G-Metrix" data that you could coordinate to display depending on what you have has sensors.

Well, going the other way, I bought a 2005 Harley Softail new in 2005. 2 months later started having balance issues. I still have the bike and the balance issues. Bike has 4489 miles on it.

AWESOME!

I've done a few 24hour mountain bike races on teams. 6 and 12 hour two-man races with my son when he was young. Many long gravel grinders most of them single speed fixed gear.
Also a few MS150s single speed fixed and once on gears. But nothing as epic as you!
