Any thoughts between the two? This would be a for a large family.

In addition, did I understand it correctly (prior post on an older thread) that while these have smaller tubs, they can wash as much as the bigger machines?

We have a TR7, mostly because of this forum. We love it, its a beast. No more waiting an hour plus for your laundry to kinda get clean. We cloth diapered our kids and washed them ourselves. Doing that killed our Maytag Bravos washer. Our youngest is now 7 1/2yrs old and the TR7 started its life with a heavy dose of diapers. I don't know what is different with a 8 or so year old TR7 series and a modern one, but it still goes strong and works for our family of 5.

The last digit is the warranty length - TR7 is 7 yrs, TR5 is 5yrs. The "R" is the Perfect wash system - which does not have a traditional agitator. The tub and agitator move separately - supposedly this system causes less wear on the clothes. It uses a larger 1hp motor, no transmission, separate pump motor, and has a lid-lock. The TC series are the classic wash - which is the same transmission mechanism they have used for decades with an integrated pump. We recently got a TR7 and it is an excellent machine.

We just bought Speed Queen FF7/DR7 washer & dryer. The wait was 10 weeks. We were told 4 - 6 weeks. Just keep that in mind.

Another anecdotal thumbs up for the TR7.

We got it for the 7 year warranty and ease of repair in contrast to front loaders.

Mrs. BB61 decided she wanted the TC5. So that’s what we just bought with delivery on Thursday.

We picked up a TC model about a year ago. Hands down the best washer I've had in my life. The tub is smaller, but you can fill it since there is an option to fill the tub with water. Our clothing is cleaner and a cycle only takes about 30 min on the heavy cycle.

Agreed. I've had a TC5 and DC5 since 2020.

The smaller tub is really the only downside, and that doesn't matter to me, since it's just me plus the occasional girlfriend load.

But it probably wouldn't work if you had a large family.

We just got a set about 5 days ago. I have a platinum dealer about 3 miles away. Went by because our washer bit the dust and took the same set as you home in my truck (black version). Impressed with them I am. My first set of speed queen and couldn't be happier. Not sure I'm suppose to feel so excited as I do about a washer and dryer. Hray

I have FF7/DF7

Only issue in 2 years is the drier door latch broke some retaining tabs. Of course the day before I went out of town. I know why they broke, I’ll not elaborate on the conversation with the “house manager”. (She’s notorious for breaking washers and driers) $7 off amazon for 2 of them and it’s fixed. Should have been delivered today. 30sec repair

Correct. Our salesman actually recommended the TC5 over the TR7 because of that.
