Unlike with slavery, there are still people alive today who were victimized by Jim Crow laws passed by Democrats. I say all Dems should pay reparations. Doesn't make any sense, you say? Well, neither does this or any of the other reparation proposals.

Reparations really are the last Hail Mary attempt at keeping African Americans on the Democratic plantation.

For decades, the Democrats have promised blacks the moon and the stars and delivered almost nothing. Very little in the way of economic gains and nothing else except maintenance of a system of government-mandated discrimination known as affirmative action that exemplifies the bigotry of low expectations. Furthermore, every major city under Democratic rule is on its way to third world status.

Along comes President Donald Trump delivering the strongest economy in a generation - one that lifts every boat, including the ones that blacks and latinos are riding in. Unemployment at all-time lows for blacks. Income gains across the board. Home ownership rates going up.

In 3 years, Trump has begun to deliver what Democrats always promised but never even really tried to deliver. The Democrats redistributed trillions of dollars over the decades, but very little of it improved the lives of minority Americans, unless they happened to be members of a labor union.

Democrats won 89% of the black vote in 2016 and 90% in the 2018 midterms. Impressive sounding, but the Democrats are now running scared because they know that it won't take very many blacks switching to the Republican party for 2020 and all future elections to turn into landslides for the GOP. If Trump gets 15% of the black vote, that would be historic and almost certainly cement a victory for the incumbent president.

So the Democrats have a three-prong strategy. First, try like hell to establish Trump as a racist or white nationalist in the minds of the black community. Second, promise reparations as another bribe to blacks. Third, import new residents from across the southern border as fast as possible and give them a path to citizenship in order to replace black voters that they may lose to the GOP.

Blacks are waking up and seeing that #1 isn't really true. They know Trump's history of great relations with the black community and they see they real economic gains he is delivering for them. As for #3, I believe it is starting to backfire on the Democrats because black can see the writing on the wall that the Democrats don't give a damn about them and are soon going to be a Latino-focused party. Also, it's a longer-term strategy that won't help them in time for 2020.

So it's all about #2 - Reparations. Will it work to keep enough blacks locked into the Democratic side? Time will tell - but I don't think so.
