“A Russian fisherman has revealed his latest collection of alien-like sea creatures that he dragged from the depths of the ocean.

Roman Fedortsov, 39, scours for cod, haddock and mackerel on commercial trawlers but a series of bizarre-looking sea creatures have been brought to the surface by accident.

The batch includes a sea pike that appears to be smiling, a shrimp that looks like part of a tree and a wolffish which had just devoured a crustacean.

The aquatic curiosities were mainly found in the Norwegian and Barents seas in the north of Russia, although some came from the Atlantic Ocean…”

Strange stuff.

What is the deal with the writer mentioning that "it's small enough to fit in the palm of your left hand" at any caption that clearly shows something smaller than a palm being held. He seems to be very perplexed that a lifeforms can fit in the palm of your hand.

Yeah pulling fish up from not too deep and that happens. It’s a reaction to trying to change buoyancy too quickly when dragged up from the bottom. I’ve seen it a lot in regular deep sea party boat trips.

These go to eleven.

Those are strange creatures. Imagine what's still down at the deepest points of the oceans yet to be discovered.
