My wife's family has a new place for this year at OCNJ as we've outgrown the old place. The old place was nice in that it was literally a one minute walk to the beach but it was getting way too cramped with all the children that are being added to the family. The new place is much much larger but it's a 2 (short blocks thank God) block walk to the beach so we all will need good beach carts for all our paraphernalia. Would anyone be able to recommend a good one? The beach we are going to is much wider than the old one too so we will need to have the kind that has the fat wheels that can roll on sand well. It would be for the usual chairs, towels, toys smaller tents etc. | ||

As you probably know, My beach house is a few islands south in Wildwood Crest... I think we have the widest beach in the whole country. Anyway, I built two versions, both out of PVC. One using golf cart wheels and one using the expensive rolleez wheels. Both work well, the rolleez a bit better because I didn’t have to make my own axels. But the golf cart wheels one works ok too. Other than building your own, the best and most reasonably priced carts I’ve seen people use are the garden carts from Home Depot. | |||

We bought one from Walmart last year after a lot of research and determining that for the price it was probably the best option. It doesn’t roll great on the beach, but it’s better than humping everything across the beach. I’m not sure there is a great option out there. At least one that’s not a ton of money. I’ll be following this though to see what’s suggested. And I’ll have to look up a shoobie cart! Hell, is other people! J-P S | |||

Cool. Thanks for the info! Yes, Wildwood keeps getting the sand from the shore towns north of them, it's crazy how wide your beaches are getting. And very sad to see the beach where we did the last 6 years at get narrower and narrower, the one year people were literally sitting with their backs to the dune fences and about 6 feet of sand in front of them at high tide.  | |||

You got it man. Yeah, it's crazy how we're getting all the sand. Unfortunately, nothing will change until they stop putting band-aids on the problem and actually dredge the inlet to prevent more erosion of the northern beaches. | |||

Check with your realtor and see if they have a rental place they recommend, I’ve seen those large PVC framed carts in OCNJ, it seems renting would solve the hassle of transporting. I’ll be at 30th and Central this summer, been going there since 1969..... | |||

Cabelas has one that is good for surf fishing and it looks like it can carry a lot of goods. Their price is high, I have seen different models for less if you shop them. https://www.cabelas.com/produc...ALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds I gave up walking onto the beach in the summer with so many day trippers there. I can walk to the end of my block and see Island Beach State Park across the bay. To get to IB in the summer is easily 45 minutes in a good day. (winter 25 minutes} So it is worth the $200 pass to be able to drive on the beach and go down to where the crowds don't go and fish in peace. Living the Dream | |||

Yeah, I think the best thing to do is suck it up and buy the pricey rolleez tires and axel and build your own on a weekend. Add $40 worth of pvc to the total. I wish I had a picture of the one I built, but it’s BIG. It has room for two kids to sit on it, a big push handle, and 4 wheels. The dimensions of the main storage area are about 5x3... the good thing with building your own is that you can customize it according to your needs. I put a sideways surfboard rack on mine as well. | |||

Holy crap, just one wheel is 90 bucks, and a basic beach cart is over $400 from Wheeleez? I think we will be renting one, I found a place that will deliver a Wheeleez beach cart right to your location there in OCNJ for $49 a week. Space in our vehicles will be limited so I think renting makes more sense; we only do the shore for 1 week a year. | |||

I can’t remember the brand name but we bought one as gift for someone from bed bath and beyond and she said it was much better than the one she had from b&b a popular chain of NJ beach stores It had a lot of features too check their web site as the summer stuff isn’t in the stores yet | |||
