KANE CHARLEY 6 |
80 years ago, today. I took my 3 younger brothers to downtown DC to see the Christmas decorations at The White House. Returning we stopped at a Little Tavern for burgers. There we heard of the attack on Peal Harbor. The world changed and so did our lives. I shall never forget. I enlisted in Aviation Cadet program in 1944 when I was old enough to do so. Served until 1978 when I retired. OLDUtahskibum

Thank you for your service! I was almost 4 years old on Pearl Harbor Day. My family was in Alameda, California on V-J Day--my dad was working in the Naval Yard there. He'd previously helped build B-24 bombers south of Detroit. Michigan. When I graduated from college in 1960 I was immediately commissioned a USAF 2Lt. I served 20 years and retired in 1980. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
I am 58 years old, first visited Pearl Harbor when I was 13-14yo. Even at that young age I was in awe of the significance of the place when I boarded the Arizona Memorial. That and Punchbowl cemetery are some of my fondest travels. I’ve been back a few more times over the years, taken my own sons for the Arizona Memorial, submarine museum, and Missouri. Truly an amazing experience and can’t believe what it would have been like to go through. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

The Main Thing Is Not To Get Excited |
Thank you for your service sir. My father and three uncles joined after Pearl Harbor. Two Marines and two b-17 and then b-29 crew. Three came home one of them wounded seriously. I knew the three survivors for their remaining lives and never heard them bitch about a thing. (except for a general lack of use for 2nd lieutenants.) _______________________

I Deal In Lead |
I first saw the Arizona Memorial when I was 21 and Stationed on Oahu. Starting in 1981 I began going back there every year to pay my respects and have only missed one year, 2020. It's an incredible feeling to be standing on the memorial and thinking about what it was like that day.
