Anyone Here Suddenly Lose Channels From Their Comcast Lineup?
F#%*!ng Comcast at it again playing games.

Without warning they removed Food Network, Disney Channel and others from certain TV package tiers.

We watch maybe 5 channels of the 150 we get with our package, Food Network being one of them. I check and now the lineup says it’s 100 channels and it’s saying we need to subscribe to Food TV.

Screw these goddamm pimps, I’d just as soon cancel and go elsewhere rather than play their BS games. The only problem is, around here Comcast IS IT, unless you want shitty slow DSL and put up an antenna. They’ve got us by the balls and know it.

They claim everyone was notified a month ago. Bullshit, I saw nothing.

Not a Comcast subscriber; I'm with Optimum (or is it now Altice? I can't keep up) but in the same boat. Looked into dropping everything but internet, and adding a dish, only to find that removing TV service would actually make my monthly cost to up by 15%.
It was cheaper to add the package (while gnashing my teeth) than to drop cable and add satellite.
Hate that I have no other option. Nearest Fios is several miles distant and Verizon has no plans to extend it.

That's only available it fiber has been run in your area. I live in a city and my part of the town doesn't have fiber.

I actually called them last week because I had a promo expire. We went from the starter package to the next step up for the same price we were paying. The lady on the phone told me the starter package was losing channels but she didn't know which ones. Glad we upgraded.

I would call and ask what promos they have running. They will give it to you.

Every year there are contract negotiations between the cable companies and the content providers. The content providers raise their prices to be able to carry those channels, adjustments have to be made somewhere to compensate for it. The price of business goes up year after year everywhere, and the cable companies aren't immune to it.

This has some merit. The Customer loyalty department does have promotions and can adjust your bill. It requires talking to several operators often offshore before you get someone in the US who can handle the issue. It may not work with your cable company, but the business is comeptitive.

We shouldn’t have to play games and threaten cancellation every 6-12 months in order to get a rate and channels we signed a contract for. What other service operates like that?

Sadly, too many. There are many corporations that do not honor their contracts. I have had similar dealings with insurance companies. A local attorney had the perfect saying about contracts, "In the big print they give it to you, in the little print they take it away."

Just to clarify, I went on their website, asked them to call me. They called me about 15 minutes later and the first lady I talked to took care of my situation. I actually told her I didn't want to go to Fios (they suck even more) but I would if I had to. I was on the phone for maybe 10-15 minutes and a lot of that was her explaining how everything works billing and promotion wise.

You sign a contract for 1-2yrs with a guaranteed rate. Once that is up they might voluntarily move you to another promotion on a month to month basis or your bill goes up to the 'standard' price. The lady told me you can always call in and ask what promotions they have going to get into one (even if you are in your 2yr contract). You can also go month to month and not sign the contract for $10 more per month over the 2yr promotion.



Just to be very clear. I am NOT defending comcast, but they are the least worst of the cable companies I have worked with. Still awful though. It's like saying Hugo Chavez was the least worst communist dictator.

I am just relaying all the the information I got during my call with them a week ago.

DishTV for SatTV needs, and HughesNet for Internet. When we built in a very rural area 25 years ago, we were outside of the area for the local cable folks. They said it wasn’t worth it to run service to our area for only a handful of customers. Screw them, and now they are begging for us to contact; SCREW THEM! Big Grin

return on onvestment. a Company is not going to spend thousands of dollars in materials and man power for a few consumers when the return on investment is 25 years. Basic business principles. Im a Comcast customer for the last 10 years. Directv and Dish would shit the bed in snow storms/ heavy rain and fog. I dont lose my xable when the weather turns. I dropped cheaper DSL because I need speed. I do pay alot dor my cable and internet, but I receive great reliabilty and speed for it. My .02.
