https://www.ourquadcities.com/...has-some-up-in-arms/ A new gun proposal in Illinois could require gun owners to shell out more cash. A bill introduced last week in the Illinois state house would require liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 It would apply to anyone applying for a new FOID card or getting one renewed. Another racist gun control proposal.

Probably not, considering you're not contiguous. You might have more luck with Kentucky. Or just break away altogether into the 51st state of "South Illinois" or "Lincoln" or whatever.

Far be it for me to insert logic, but what is the violent crime rate, or hell even the crime rate period for FOID card holders?

You can always vote with your feet. The political hacks who have caused so much damage can't figure out what they've done wrong, so they double down with more of the same. Anyone with any sense will see the future and its more of the same. Ike called the solution Project Wetback. The more they welcome the lazy, the more that will come. But if you want more of the same, don't come to Kentucky, we don't want or need your voting habits. Neither does West by God Virginia. If you support stupid, move all the way to Virginia. At the very least you need to figure out who the politicians are causing the problem and vote against them. Even put a campaign sign in your yard. Then tell the next offensive knock at your door if he/she does it again, you'll punch them out. Unhappy ammo seeker

It's more about ensuring that the pockets of FOID holders are deep enough that the grieving mothers can try for a nice fat settlement after their dearly departed unsuccessfully attempt to victimize the legal gunowner.

Way too logical. The crime problem is in Chicago were it’s either liberals or thugs neither of which have FOID card. They know that but think they have found yet another way to tax their people. I wish they were this creative when looking for ways to cut waste.

More than one county/city has considered this. Once Mrs. M-11 and I retire this year I'm hoping to convince her to move across the river to MO. And we'll bring our red voting history with us. Thank you Very little |
Probably be shot down in court, lots of folks with firearms would have to surrender them because they couldn't afford the insurance, or, it might not be even obtainable, making it a defacto ban

.0000000001% of all shootings/homicides. BTW, there is a suit in court contesting the legality of the FOID card.

I like this idea. Just make I-80 the border. Yeah. This is Illinois. The only "logic" is that it is another worthless yet utterly predictable feel good gesture by one of our "enlightened" overlords. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

I hate this state. The wife and I are on the ten year and outta here plan, as long as the stock market cooperates.

Reminds me of the voting poll tax. IMO, I can't see where this would stand up in court. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. Who and what events would this new insurance mandate cover has always been my question. I already have liability insurance for many risks. So is this some new kind of coverage that one would need? And what new kinds of events would it now cover? Under my current insurance if I commit a crime, no coverage, and I'm guessing that would be the case for any insurance. So if I'm not convicted of a crime, exactly who would have a case against me (I'm aware that you can be sued separately at a civil level to a different standard of proof, but good luck on that case for a good shoot), but again I'm not sure who could stand to benefit from such insurance. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
