I have had this for a long time. It works well. I use it to sharpen a lot of stuff except good blades. It works well on yard tools.

For the same price I picked up a Lansky Blademedic
Used it on a beat up old kukri and it's sharper than the day I bought it. The serration sharpener works great too.

I have been eyeing the Lansky C-Sharp for this purpose. The ceramic is said to be easier on blades. The multiple set angles also includes 17 to match the Mora I keep in my get home bag.

Yes, most people include at least one knife in their emergency kit, but forget that any knife which is used will need replenishment of the edge at intervals. A decent sharperner, and knowing how to use that sharpener is vital in any situation where you are using your knife for any extended period.

The item in question in this thread wouldn't be my first choice. I prefer a flat stone, but if size is a factor, these EZE-Lap Pocket Sharpeners are great.

A sharpener should always accompany any knife with inexpensive steel, such as the 420 stainless Leatherman uses for their knife blades. The edge on a 420 blade goes south pretty quickly.

The key to a sharp edge is keeping the proper angle on the blade as you sharpen. If you are good at this (and it takes practice to be good) tools such as this sharpener and the EZ Lap work great.
I however suck at keeping the angle. So I use a BladeMedic too. It is pre angled and lets me get a good edge quickly. Light and easy to carry too.

My sharpening skills are quite poor so I use the full Lansky sharpening system at home and carry their blademedic in my truck and in one of my camping bags for the woods.

Those are great suggestions and good sharpeners are invaluable.
If you are in a zombie apocalypse and find you don't have a handy sharpener, you can always use the edge of any car window or the bottom of a coffee mug.

I was surprised how well it worked for general sharpening.
I keep one in the garage and one in the kitchen for our average kitchen knifes.
Much easier than dragging out my Wicked Edge that of course does a better job but this little thing is pretty good for general use.
I still will use the WE for my expensive folders and straight blades.
