Gunbroker is giving me fits.

Rick LeeGunbroker is giving me fits.
I won a pistol two weeks ago today for a very good price, good enough that I suspect the seller, whose feedback is way higher than mine, wants to drag his feet and get me to ask to cancel the deal. Not my fault his min. bid amount was too low with no reserve. I sent a USPS money order the following day. Final price included $50 for 2nd day shipping. He’s had my money for at least 10 days now and, after a phone call and a few emails, I fear he is going radio silent. I have a lot of travel coming up starting next weekend and need to get this deal wrapped up. When do I go nuclear on this deal? And do I just contact GB, whose maximum protection is less than I’ll be out? Or do I call local police where the seller lives?
Another one two weeks earlier, the guy had a batch of four mags listed. Opening bid was $2.50 and I was the only bidder. I was expecting the four mags in the item description and photo, but only one arrived. I really can’t complain over getting even one for the price I paid. Again, not my fault the seller had too low an opening bid amount or no reserve. I think I’ll let that one slide.

mrvmaxI just won a Dan Wesson TCP for $600 under wholesale, I thought the seller would try to back out but they shipped it out as soon as they got payment. Picked up a CZ Shadow 2 for $200 under wholesale and they also shipped out quickly. There are some deals to be had on penny start, no reserve auctions.
I’d call the seller and ask when it will be shipped, I doubt Gunbroker will be much help if you can even get in contact with them. I’d wait it out and see if you get teh gun you won, I think it would be worth the wait.

ScreamingCockatooSo he's stealing your money?
After 10 days I would have been nuclear already.
He'd be refunding me AND getting a shit review on GB.
He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

Rick LeeGB's buyer protection program rules are that they can't do anything until he's had my money for two weeks without shipping, which should be this Wed.

mrprovyIs he a dealer? I'd suspect a dealer would be much more concerned about a complaint filed against them with the local licensing jurisdiction and/or the ATF vs GB

The ATF does not care about a GB seller not holding up to the auctions.

Gunbroker has nothing to do with the issue you’re dealing with. Not yet, anyway.

Now, it’s time to get GB involved. You haven’t even started this first step, not sure why you want to call the police?

I can't see that doing any good. They'd most likely call that a civil matter.

That might be what has to happen.

Rick LeeHe is not a dealer. But he has lots of listings on there and about 158 positive feedback.

Maybe, maybe not. I bought some parts for the v-tail from a seller on eBay. I paid promptly, then for a few months it was one excuse after another from the seller.
I found contact information for some sort of state consumer protection agency in Utah (the seller's state). Sent a message including all the email exchanges. Got a reply from the agency essentially saying "that shit don't fly here in Utah, we'll get right on it." I don't know what the said to the seller, but I received emails from him, whining about how mean I was, and the parts showed up on my doorstep two days later.

HRKGive it to Wednesday and then make a decision if you don't have a tracking number for the gun, at that point, post a negative review, that he's kept the money without shipping the gun.

A few months? Of course you would go “nuclear”. OP’s situation is only 10 days, and it’s not even yet time to involve GB.

texassierraI had a very similar situation several years ago purchasing a P239 off GB from a jackass in Houston. Paid $50 for overnight shipping and the seller wanted to use ShipMyGun but my FFL wasn't part of thier system. He says that he'll just ship it to another FFL nearby. I told him no he'd ship it to my FFL. He dicked around for several weeks before I sent him a final email saying that if I didn't have a valid tracking number by the following day I would begin filing complaints with any and every agency that would take one. I also told him that I would take vacation and travel to Houston if need be to make sure he was prosecuted to the fullest extent. Miraculously I received a tracking number the next day. When my FFL received the pistol he called me asking for the sellers contact information because the jackass shipped it himself, via USPS, with no paperwork inside. Before I could get him the information he said nevermind he would just contact the ATF and let them deal with the guy. Sounded like a good deal to me.

Yes, same thing here. He wanted to use SMG, but my FFL wasn't in their system. I sent it to them as soon as he told me that, haven't heard anything back. I told him he can just ship UPS or FedEx Ground to my FFL address. It's against their rules, but not against the law. But then this guy has a lot of GB transactions under his belt. I can't understand why he doesn't have this stuff figured out or why he's stalling. He has to know this is not going to end well for him if it doesn't get straightened out right soon.

Rick LeeI miss the SF classifieds. I bought a factory nickel P226 from a member here and he shipped without even giving me payment info, wanted to make sure I was satisfied before I paid. Sheesh.

patwSadly, these examples are becoming more frequent with private sellers and occasionally, some ffl dealers on any site. How much Gunbroker is going to do is debatable. It seems as long as their money flow keeps coming in, they won't do much other than send an email to the seller and state they can't enforce a sale to happen. I had that happen once and was told just that.
I also think the 2 week deal is ridiculous, as most deals can be done in a couple/few days unless the seller has a real medical issue or is jailed, stalling the complete sale. Every time I sold/sell something, it goes out asap. It's a shame people don't treat others the way they want to be treated.

Rick LeeI left him another vm today. Going nuclear on Wed.
I sold a gun on there last night and the buyer sent me a photo of the USPS money order, said he mailed it today and sent me hi FFL. Why can't everyone be like this?
