NY State new Laws
The New York Senate passed a number of anti-gun violence legislation on Tuesday.
The following bills were passed in the Senate:

1- indicates bill passed both the Senate and Assembly.
Extreme Risk Protection Orders. Allows law enforcement officials, family and household members and certain school officials to seek a court order requiring a person likely to harm themselves or others to relinquish any firearms in their possession.
Effective Background Check Act. Establishes an extension of time up to thirty calendar days for national in-state background checks.
2-Bump Stock Ban. Prohibits the possession of a device that accelerates the rate of fire of a firearm.
3-Preventing School Districts from Allowing Teachers to Be Armed. Prevents K-12 schools from authorizing anyone other than a security officer, school resource officer, or law enforcement officer to carry a firearm on school grounds.
4-Gun Buy Backs. Directs the State Police to devise regulations for gun buyback programs so that all buyback programs across the state are operated consistently with uniform best practices.

5- Out of State Mental Health Records. Would require out-of-state applicants for gun permits to allow New York permitting authorities to review out-of-state mental health records.

Senate Democrats voted against a measure that would given schools the authority and resources to hire an armed school resource officer, improve security in and around the building, and increase the number of health professionals on staff to identify and address problems.

The extreme risk protection bill and expanded background check bill heads to the Assembly for a vote. All other bills have passed the Assembly.

Yes, but no state is immune. Once the major metropolitan area controls the rest, all bets are off. The East Coast just has a head start.

Eventually, the laws will mean nothing.

You sir are correct. Illinois has an AWB in the works as well as mag capacity limit. 10 round IIRC.

"The governor said he is prepared for legal challenges that could end up before the U.S. Supreme Court. But he predicted that even if his administration loses the legal fight, it will be vindicated in the court of public opinion."

"We are the inverse of where Washington is," he said in a reference to the administration of President Donald Trump. "They are going extreme conservative, and we are going progressive."

"Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday his support for stringent gun control measures is so strong that he wants to see it mentioned in the first paragraph of the eulogy that will be given when he dies."

^^^^These marxist antagonists are really drawing the line in the sand now, aren't they? They are playing with fire with talk like that.

What, in turn, are the practical consequences for Cuomo and his ilk?

He can enact onerous gun laws. The litigation on the federal district and appellate court levels typically is an affair protracted over the span of years until it reaches the Supreme Court.

If the Supreme Court, following a half decade, both grants cert and reverses the lower Liberal courts, then NYS's legislature can merely write a new law in order to repeat the sequence, yet again.

This is not some abstract exercise for me; instead, it is a painful realization for me, but it is, in my perception, a realistic one.

Wow. They must be putting their money into Gun Free Zone signs. Come on, Ruthie, help us out and die. Must be strange knowing that 100 million persons are hoping you die asap.

That is the worst part. Bad enough is the new gun control that won't actually stop an attack, but those lowlifes voted down the only things that would have made schools more secure!

With the Democrats in control of the state senate, assembly and governor's office, there will be more laws coming.

While these are most certainly bad, what turns my stomach is what they did with their abortion laws. Perfectly legal, no physician required, up to and including the day of birth.

Sick motherfuckers. Gosnell will die in prison for the same thing, yet they made it legal.

I pray to God that he is excommunicated. Dolan needs to do the right thing here...for once.

With all the candy ass teachers around here, including a few family members, this one is completely not necessary...
All the rest just suck ass, like the remainder of the BS laws on the books here.

NJ is not far behind with old horse face. Sadly it's a race to the bottom in many states these days.
