Foxnews.com: Arizona homeowner shoots, kills suspected intruder, injures another: ‘Better come in ready’

An Arizona homeowner shot and killed a suspected intruder and injured another man when the duo tried to break into a house Saturday, police said.

Michael Ahumada, 34, was killed when he and another unidentified man tried to break into a home in Phoenix just after 1 a.m. Saturday, police told FOX10 Phoenix.

"That's when the homeowner shot them. One of them passed away from their injuries and the other was taken to the hospital,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said, adding that anyone with information regarding the incident should contact authorities.

The man who was injured in the incident was said to be in critical but stable condition as of Saturday.

The homeowner told AZFamily.com in a brief interview that he won't hesitate to defend himself again in a future break-in.

"If they come in... [they] better come in ready," the homeowner said.

It’s unclear if the homeowner will face charges in the deadly shooting.

Nice bit of news for a Sunday afternoon.

Sounds like there is more to the story than just a simple bad guy invaded home and got killed by homeowner.

I doubt it. They may just be trying to figure out a way to charge the homeowner. I wouldn't have said what he said. Maybe next time they will be ready and what good would that do for the homeowner.

I thought AZ is a gun friendly state. Anyway, the homeowner is an idiot to blabber his mouth like that. If I had just shot and killed a criminal, now matter how justified I was, I would never be showing my face to the press doing interviews. This guy sounds like he thinks he's bad ass. He obviously didn't think he needed an attorney.

AZ is gun friendly but Phoenix probably isn't.

Indiana is a gun friendly state too but South Bend, Gary, and a couple of other cities certainly are not.

Arizona is as "gun friendly" as it gets.

Concealed carry is legal without a permit, and open carry is common.

A shooting is still a a serious matter and will be investigated. It's still wise to refrain from speaking, because regardless of criminal charges, there will invariably be civil suits.

It's best to not blab to Police following a self defense shooting. Not every Cop or Prosecutor is gun owner friendly.

And NEVER say anything to the media.

AZ has a shield law for justified shoots. But that doesn't stop the perps' families from trying anyway. Better to not give anyone any reason to file charges or help the civil suit.

You may be clear of a criminal charge , murder etc. Then there is the civil law suit of wrongful death. Our justice system really comes down to who can lie the best! It turns in to a shit show in a hurry. I have experienced this first hand. I can tell you , you need to have your assets “protected “ the best you can or they will be on the line in a civil law suit. Sometimes it helps if you are piss poor and have nothing in your name.
