It’s not a storm until some schmuck is standing out in the bad weather.

Here as well. NOAA's station is at the airport some 14 miles or so as the crow flies from me. But there is the better part of 1000' elevation difference, lee side of the Black Hills mountains, routine temperature inversions, etc. So I use a weather app* that provides additional weather stations with designations like F0077, E2118, RWSE2, etc. to see conditions in spots around and nearer to me. Tells me a hell of a lot more than the both the professional dart throwing prognosticators and the basic NOAA observation / forecast.

FWIW the two apps I use (android) are:
-- NOAA Unoffical (beta)* by Granite Apps
-- weawow weather & widget app (has solid dark sky option)
I also have Windy.com on both my desktop and smartphone for lightning strikes, etc.

I agree with the OP. Weather "forecasters" and the citizens who eat that shit are "weather pussies", or more accurately, just pussies in general. Those same people wear designer jackets in cold weather, wait three hours for someone to come out to change their tire, and wait in line for 30 minutes to pay $10 for a smoothie. Yes I said it. Whether they're weather pussies, tire changer pussies, or smoothie pussies, they're all cut from the same cloth. And the worst thing about pussies is they multiply.

Additionally, why must every tiny little snow accumulation of any amount IN MICHIGAN receive its own alert, special weather statement, hazardous weather outlook, or other NWS issued advisory product?

It's Michigan, in the winter. I could see such things being helpful if this was someplace which didn't routinely experience frozen precipitation, like the southern US, but it isn't. This weather occurs very frequently here every winter.

Also, naming winter storms is ridiculous.

As unlikely as it may seem: That is, in fact, her real name. Her husband is Joe Breezy.

I don't pay much attention to weather segments. I don't watch tv news in the first place.

I do track the weather on a weather map and i have percent of rain and temperature showing on my apple watch.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Had a trained metorologist (?) (weatherman) tell me that "weathermen do it with cracked crystal balls"......... the " wet bulb" and "wind chill" have great effect on the human skin depending the "humidity" as well as "wind" ..... .... like in the news be it newsprint or radio / tv that if the story bleeds then it leads.......... How can so many weathermen keep their jobs while being so wrong on their forecast so much of the time?? How would you fare if you had this kind of track record with your employer?? Why do they only give general forecast that gives them so much leeway as what to expect?? .................... drill sgt.

We haven't had a weather hottie around here in years, ever since Sophie Soong left. Most of them now are guys, and they're so f'ing young! Or maybe it's just that I've reached old. Between their high & tight haircuts, young faces and tailored suits I keep thinking they look like a bunch of gay 15 year olds. Oh, and a couple of them have a penchant for wearing brown shoes with a blue suit. Who the hell wears brown shoes with a blue suit? I can't believe someone at the station hasn't explained that to them.

If want a weather hottie, I have to dial up one of the spanish language channels. I don't understand a word they're saying, but damn!

I don't like being treated to predictions of WINTER BLAST, SUMMER COOKER, or WHIRLING DERVISH OF HURRICANE DEATH.

The overly dramatic weather forecasts.

Even sadder, we lost one of our weather hotties, Britta Merwin, to national news.

I've been watching the weather in Mexico closely for quite a while, I'm not going there, no plans on travel, no relatives or property there, however I do have a great interest in the reporting..

Indeed. Some of us are old enough to remember when TV shows were entertainment and the news was reality.

So ... you're saying it's heading towards the Northeast, huh?

And we've got Larry Sprinkle telling us the weather here in Charlotte.
