I'm glad they've found the courage to address what is not only the obvious, but what was liberal doctrine until Bill got caught with his cigar in the cookie jar.

Was The Clinton-Lewinsky Affair An Abuse Of Power? No, Says Hillary. Yes, Say Experts.
Korin Miller, Yahoo Lifestyle, Oct. 15, 2018

Twenty years after the infamous Clinton-Lewinsky scandal - when then-president Bill Clinton had an affair with the 22-year-old White House intern Monica Lewinsky - Hillary Clinton has something new to say about the situation. In an interview with CBS' "Sunday Morning", Hillary said that her husband should have "absolutely not" resigned from office after his affair was made public. She also offered her opinion that it was not an abuse of power on the president's part, as Lewinsky has maintained, because the intern "was an adult."

Lewinsky offered a different take, though, in her recent essay for Vanity Fair. "Now, at 44, I'm beginning (just beginning) to consider the implications of the power differentials that were so vast between a president and a White House intern," she wrote. "I'm beginning to entertain the notion that in such a circumstance the idea of consent might well be rendered moot. (Although power imbalances - and the ability to abuse them - do exist even when the sex has been consensual.)" The former intern also repeatedly referenced power dynamics. "He was my boss. He was the most powerful man on the planet. He was 27 years my senior, with enough life experience to know better," Lewinsky wrote. "He was, at the time, at the pinnacle of his career, while I was in my first job out of college." In another segment, she said, "What transpired between Bill Clinton and myself was not sexual assault, although now we recognize that it constituted a gross abuse of power."

On Sunday, CBS correspondent Tony Dokoupil asked Hillary Clinton directly about that allegation. "[The affair] wasn't an abuse of power?" he asked. To which she replied, "No. No."

Dukoupil continued, "There are people who look at the incidents of the '90s and they say, 'A president of the United States cannot have a consensual relationship with an intern; the power imbalance is too great." To which Hillary interjected, "....who was an adult," in reference to Lewinsky. "But let me ask you this," she added. "Where's the investigation of the current incumbent [president], against whom numerous allegations have been made, and which he dismisses, denies, and ridicules? So there was an investigation [of Bill], and it, as I believe, came out in the right place."

She's wrong, Jaclyn Friedman, author of books on sex and power including "Unscrewed: Women, Sex, Power and How to Stop Letting the System Screw Us All", tells Yahoo lifestyle. "Obviously there's an abuse of power," she says. "She's an intern and he was the president of the United States. This is not about 'how do you know where the line is.' He was literally the leader of the free world."

Psychiatrist Carole Lieberman also agrees with Lewinsky. "It was an abuse of power because he was the president," she tells Yahoo Lifestyle. However, she adds, Lewinsky seems to "want to think of it as an affair, because she wants to believe he was equally besotted."

An abuse of power is different from general power dynamics, which every relationship has, Friedman says. "Men have greater cultural power, someone has more money that (sic - IC) the other - every relationship has this," she says. "But when this person is your boss, it's never going to be an OK situation. The Clinton-Lewinsky situation takes that one step further, though, Friedman says. "This isn't even a regular boss-direct report situation," she says. "This is literally the president of the United States and an intern here. Yes, it's an abuse of power."

And of course Hill immediately retreats into a "but what about Trump?" spiel. Well, Hill, it's like this. Do you remember how Democrat after Democrat got caught fooling around on their significant other, or with fooling around with interns, and the Democratic party simply laughed it off? Dems didn't care about that whereas they did care about Republicans doing it because Republicans (Democrats say) have positioned themselves as the "party of morality".

So check it out. The Democrats have positioned themselves as the "party of raising hell about sex under conditions of disparate power" for some decades now. Trump has always said up front that he's never claimed to be some sort of moral paragon and that he doesn't give a damn about the stories floating around about his love life. Democrats have claimed to be all kinds of "champions for women" even before the #MeToo movement, though, and every one of them swears up and down that they're outraged about sex between two people who somehow aren't power equals.

Enjoy the lift, Hill. Your own petard has been decades in the making.

Hil stood by while Monica was savaged as an unstable stalker. Hil claims she played no role. Utter bullshit. Hil had all the power and she did whatever she needed to do to keep that power. She's as guilty as Bill and every talking head who spun their tale. Monica isn't blameless but to pretend there isn't a power imbalance between a White House intern and the goddamn President of the United States is obscene. It's long past time the leftist victim brigade turned their knives on Slick Willie. Now that Hil's washed up and out of options we'll see if they have the guts to step up to the plate.

Oh, we're not just talking about Hill the Pill. I'll never forget the self-satisfied smirk on Patricia Ireland's face when she announced "I chooose to not believe" Paula Jones. Coming from the then-president of the NOW, it really came across as a shock that she wasn't even going to pretend to give Paula Jones a fair hearing.

Sorry, but none of us will ever see William Jefferson Clinton (a guilty man) treated like Brett Kavanaugh (an innocent man) was. #MeToo will stop far short of that point because Bill's part of the right (Left) team.

Surprised that Hillary did not declare that Bill was taken advantage of.

Irregardless of the fact that what Bill did would have have gotten him disciplined at minimum up to termination in most corporations.

^^^ Big Grin I'm sure Monica has, and had at the time, many fine qualities, but I don't think she ever came across as being sophisticated enough to take advantage of der Schlickmeister.

Hey, he used to be not only untouchable, but aggressively defended by every Dem in the party. The fact that there appears to be a crack in the teflon doesn't mean he's going down, but it does leave me waiting to see how far this might go.

After all, they're no longer all that deeply invested in him since he's not in office and he's not the only Dem former POTUS still alive.

Shortly after the relationship came to light I mentioned to a hard core feminist acquaintance that if it had involved an Army second lieutenant and a woman sergeant his career would have been toast. Even then it was recognized that “consent” between two people in a hierarchal organization like that, regardless of whether they were adults, was a meaningless sham. I also pointed out that regardless of whether there was meaningful consent, Clinton’s actions demonstrated his complete lack of self-control, good judgment, and fitness for office.

The woman I discussed it with completely dismissed my argument, and indicated she saw nothing wrong with a powerful married man having sex with a subordinate at the very bottom of the ladder. I am no longer in contact with that woman, but it would almost be worth asking her what she thinks about BJ today.

They are driving the stake through the vampires heart. There is whispering among the propaganda class that Hil could beat Trump if she just ran one more time. Those Leftists with a brain will do anything to prevent her resurrection....even sacrifice their God, Bill.

Oh yes, they should totally run the Hildabeast again in 2020. I would completely support that idea. Heck, with any luck the stress and strain of the campaign might finish her off. That would be a toofer- She’s still not President, and as a bonus, we’ll never have to listen to her again. I love it!

No one, with an ounce of logic or common sense can believe or give validity to ANYTHING that comes out of Hillary's mouth. She is the ultimate manipulator and has been for decades. Ask anyone who has crossed her that happens to still be alive.

No question that Hillary Clinton is an incredible hypocrite. But so are most liberals. So she is pretty much Queen of the Hypocrites, and well respected by her subjects.

I saw a newscast video in the '90's of Slick Willie at an outdoor function with women in attendance.

Monica was there, too...dancing around Bill like a school girl with a crush. The women in the crowd were hanging on to each word he said.

My ex saw this and said: "Bill's banging that girl".

Nothing will happen to Slick Willie. The voting women love him.

Ah, yes. Has a "Round 2" between the two presidential nominees ever produced a result that was different from "Round 1"?

Usually the odds seem so stacked against a party nominee who's already lost one Presidential race that most people assume they can't do anything with another nomination to run for President. I don't think the Republicans have ever even tried to run a nominee for President twice. I'd have to go back and check the books myself to be sure, but I think the Dems haven't tried it since they gave Stevens a second chance.

ETA: Wikipedia, FWIW, says Stevens was the last Dem to get the party's nomination twice.
