Looking for one of the smaller form shop vacs. Already have a large 5hp Craftsman, but rolling that thing around gets old sometimes, and doesn’t always fit where I need it. Plus, we’re in an apartment for the next 9 months while our new place is built so don’t have the room for it right now.

Wondering if anyone has good experience with the smaller units. Something thats easy enough to carry around. Does it have the “umf” to vacuum out cars/trucks like the larger units?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I love watching project farm reviews on YouTube as I find them both informative and entertaining.

I have the 1.5 gallon Shop Vac. Lightweight and great suction. Easy to carry around and store. Bags and filters are readily available. Had it for 10 years and problem free.

This little thing is terrific, IMO: 4.5 Gallon 5.0-Peak HP ProPack Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum with Fine Dust Filter, Expandable Hose and Accessories

I recently bought a Milwaukee one that works w/ my M-18 batteries. Haven't used it much (just in my boat), but so far it's ok.

I have got a Shop-Vac brand Hang Up. It is 1.5 HP and holds around 1.5 gallons. I have had it for years and it is still going good. It seems as powerful as my larger Shop-Vac.

I have a M12 Milwaukee I use for my car. Suction in high is excellent but it is battery limited. With it on high a 6 AH m12 battery is totally drained in about 20 minutes. I'll also note that the capacity is limited, IIRC it's just 1 gallon. However for cleaning up a car that is regularly maintained.

I've stopped counting.

Thank you, I’d actually been looking at this one. Seems easy enough to carry around and pretty powerful.

Years ago I got tired of those big Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum. I tried a few smaller ones over the years never warmed up to them much (lack of power and or capacity). About a 1 1/2 years ago I picked up one of those Ridgid 4.5 Gallon 5.0-Peak the model with the wheels shop vacuum. It's like the goldilocks of shop vacuums. Filters are easy to come by at HD.

Same situation here. I bought a $20 Menards no name 2 gallon I think maybe less. Handy but made cheap. Motor seems strong enough but the cannister is suspect. Works good now but I don't use it much.

M12 is compact, has the suction of a larger unit...
But as posted previously, eats batteries fairly quickly.

You definitely want to have a 6ah battery with a small 3ah (will also fit inside) as a backup.

Old Milwaukee (corded, similar to the one in the video above) is still going strong.

Dewalt has a small carry handle model, 4 gallon I think. FYI, Shop-Vac went bankrupt a year or so ago.

You're welcome. It is. It's not as powerful as my full-size Craftsman shop vac, but it's a darn sight easier to move around. Often, when I'm moving about with the thing, I just pick it up and carry it as I vacuum.
