I have never in my several decades on this Earth seen a 2 wheel drive Jeep of any type. Must be a Southern thing. Who knew!? That thing would be about as useless as a crocheted condom up here.

Roll Eyes
The JGC has been available in 2wd/RWD since its introduction in 1993.
Pretty sure it's the same with the Cherokee since 1974.

My high school baseball coach in 86-87 had a 2wd CJ7, 360 and auto transmission. Even though I was 15 at the time I had mechanical experience, that’ll happen when you buy a trashed 67 Mustang and have to redo almost everything btw, and we had a 78 CJ5. That one was 4wd and 3 speed manual.

Asked my coach about it before as I had been around several other Jeeps on a couple of deer leases and had never seen or heard of a 2wd. His response was basically that he loved the looks but didn’t have need for 4wd.

Me personally, I wouldn’t have done it. I haven’t been without a 4wd vehicle since 1999 but if it works for you then by all means knock yourself out.

With kid #3 on the way, the extra back set & cargo space would be handy.

Keep in mind, the Grand Cherokee has only 2 rows of seating. If you want 3 rows, you might consider the Durango.

I don't see any of the Jeeps as 3 kid, family of 5 vehicles.

My wife has a Flex, which seats 7.
Our oldest is out of a car seat, so it would be down to seeing how well the 3 of them fit with #3 in a rear facing & #2 in a (full seat) booster.

Would have to get it to the house (or get the neighbor to drive it home one night) to test how well that scenario works.

It will be down to how much of your sanity, you'd like to keep. A car seat, kid in the middle and one in a booster on the other side, aint going to work!
