We have been using this brand for years, but it seems like in the past year or two it’s gotten extremely dusty/linty. I’m looking at all my bathrooms and there’s dust all over everything and I realize it’s coming off of the toilet paper and I looked it up online and a lot of people are saying the same thing.

Has anyone else noticed this? I told my wife today to switch to something else and she grabbed Scott at Costco.

No, I've always used and been happy with Scott. I did however, recently buy a case of their paper towels. I like them and compare them favorably with Bounty.

We do, for about for about 15 years. Yes it currently seems to have a small reduction in quality. This seems to ebb and flow with economic times. It's never gotten so bad that we switched.

During the shortage, we kept a case parceled out inside and one down in the garage. We still do that.

It seems that when they reduced the rolls from 435 to 380 sheets, the quality also fell off.

I could have sworn I read something that they switched to a Canadian manufacturer away from an American one and that’s where it seemed like it all went downhill as well. That seems to track with the timeline of when I noticed it’s starting to get really dusty and low quality.

Same. Yes, it costs a little more, oh well.

Might cost a bit more (not much) at the register, but last time I checked, there was not a significant difference on a per-sheet basis. I'll do the maff again next time I'm at Costco.

I used their Charmin forever, but when I bought this place I noticed that I was having difficulty flushing the stuff, particularly from my furthest toilet. It is quite a long run and I was getting a lot of overflows. Switched to the Kirkland brand and that problem went away.

If I had my druthers, though, I'd still use the Charmin. Kirkland works, but the Charmin is a superior product. I haven't noticed any increased dust or change in quality.

I concur, very dusty with larger, almost like dry spitball size 'dander.' I have also been hearing lately that septic companies have been telling homeowners in my neighborhood that it tends to be bad for septic systems. I did a quick (not in depth) search online, and though many didn't name Kirkland by name, it displays many of the qualities of what they say is bad for septic systems.

One test they recommend is take a few sheets and place them in a jar filled with water. make sure the sheets get fully wet, then let it sit for 20 minutes or so. After that time, the sheets should show signs of coming apart. I did it, sheets were still solid as heck. Let it sit longer, still solid. Even swirled around with my fingers, solid. Was even able to remove them from the jar after almost an hour in one solid piece. Didn't even come apart when grabbing it from the edges. Saw videos where the pipes themselves were clogged with tp.

Use Scotts septic safe in our motorhome. It starts to come apart on the flush after sitting for a few seconds. Switching to Scotts after the last bag of Kirkland runs out. I've had a few neighbors that have had to replace their systems at major expense. Don't need that headache.

Just tried this test with mine. I put a couple of squares in a sink with water. Within a minute they had degraded to the point where I couldn't pick them up out of the water. I'll stick with the Kirkland. 13 years and my septic tank is fine.

We used Kirkland for probably 20 years. They changed it around 2021/2022 and now it is super thin so we switched to Charmin from Costco. Much better.

Kirkland also have cheaped out on their paper towels. Bounty from Costco it is.
