I now have an adult, the ubiquitous quarter & not needed protection
My son turned 18 the other day so technically, I guess I'm the proud owner of a brand new adult! This is scary, because I'm still not all grown up yet. I'm also at fault as I taught my eldest (and youngest) rather well, they have good taste. I hope they'll be able to afford their lifestyle when they actually "grow up".

For years, my Wife and I give the kids a choice on what they want for their birthday meal.
"Do you want to go out to eat, do you want me to cook? Either way, let me know."
My youngest has recommended some good ones in the past: Ramen Noodles (as in a GOOD Ramen restaurant), Sushi, Chicken and Waffles, duck...

For the past few years running, my oldest meat eater requests Tomahawk Rib-eyes. Who can argue with that? If you look close, there's the ubiquitous quarter next to the meat. My loving wife requested the Filet, as it would take her about a week and a half to eat one of these Rib-eyes. The rather unnecessary protection is a G-34, Trijicon RMR & TLR-1HL. It was unnecessary because my two Raptors devoured them within minutes, and I might just have a bite taken out of my forearm from one of the kids Cool

Tossed on the Weber until about 115~120F in the middle, a reverse sear with clarified butter, minced garlic, rosemary and sage. A perfect Med-Rare.
It took a little longer to cook because it was 20F outside.

(Ok, if someone can give me a hip-pocket class on how to embed a photo, it would be much appreciated!)

Congratulations! My youngest son turned 18 in November and is finishing high school. He's looking at colleges and military now. His big brother (age 33) has been in the Army and is going to do his 20 years.

My youngest would never eat red meat as a child. But whenever he started playing minecraft, he asked to try steak. Now we grill up a steak every weekend. He likes sirloins and I like ribeyes. I actually ran a gas line out to the deck and bought a gas grill. No more refilling propane tanks.

oh scrap that, I forgot, my youngest is now 7 months. smh. so my second son recently turned 18.

I'm getting old...

creslin, thanks for doing that, I was in the middle of doing it. lol

Looks like if you click the "share" arrow on the bottom right it pops up with a little window with 3 options.

1) share
2) embed
3) bbcode

Select bbcode and choose your desired size (in this case i chose 800x600)

Then just paste that brick of text into the forum window.

CPDSig, I am sure you raised him well, to make good decisions and to know they live with the bad ones, regardless you will always love them. You have nothing to fear. Embrace the moment!

You really should find somebody to explian what is causing them to appear or you will never get to retire.

I asked my own father to prepare a Tomahawk last year. He was not confident grilling so we braised two Cowboy Cuts in the oven. Both were delicious. I paid about $70 for the pair.

I'm lucky, my 18yo only wanted shrimp pasta.

My grandson turned nine. 9. My son asked him where he wanted to go for dinner.
McDonalds? Burger King? Nope. Cooper's Hawk!
I looked at my son and shook my head, oh well, at least he has good taste.

No I'm not, but my back, knees and ankles sure are!

Creslin- HUGE THANKS! It was the BBCODE that I was missing.

V-Tail, Happy Birthday to you, Sir!

RR- Sorry, this might be an expensive thread for you.

Mr Kablammo- Med High heat on the grill, get the inside to around 115-120F (If you ain't cheatin' you aint tryin! Wink https://www.amazon.com/Best-Se.../zgbs/kitchen/289810 ) then a quick reverse sear and you're all good! About 40 Min.

My 18yo devoured that thing like he never ate before! Even my 14yo finished his with a quickness! Me? I passed out on the couch about 30min later Big Grin
Sometimes I wish my kids had "cheaper" taste, but I probably wouldn't have a reason to toss a Tomahawk on a grill.
