Anyone have an e-bike? If so which one?

I have a little older version of this one.

https://lectricebikes.com/prod...xp-lite-arctic-white

They said that it had a range of around 60 miles, but I haven't gotten that on full battery power. It does recharge as you pedal though. It's a pretty handy little unit and I like that it folds up small(er).

What kind of riding are doing? Road, MTB, commuting?

I build, modify and work on e-bikes and my local bike shop. Even did a brief stint racing them in a local race series and managed a few podiums.

I get anywhere from 21-100 miles a charge on a 500-625w battery.

There are a lot of variables that come into play such as power settings, terrain and battery capacity.

I purchased a used Schwinn 36volt ebike from Facebook marketplace for $150. It was in OK shape. I had to give it a simple tune-up and it is now working great. It is a Class 2, meaning it has a throttle and will go 20mph max with the throttle. 20mph may not seem like it is fast, but on a bike, it is plenty fast. God Bless Smile

If I can piggyback a Q on the OP's....Stickman, do you have an opinion on the MOD Bikes, specifically the ones with the sidecar (Sahara and Groove).

Thanks!

I have 2, I have a Lectric XP4 750W/long range, and a Velotric fold ST or +. Both are folding, both are approximately 75lbs, removing the battery drops that around 10 lbs. Both are 7 speeds. Non-folding can get you lighter. Both have a throttle and are class 3 and will go 20+ mph with throttle and 28mph peddling on maximum assist, about 20 mph is as fast as one should go on a bicycle IMO.

I'm 280lbs and riding with some assist, say 2 out of 5, I get around 35 miles on the Velotric and 45 miles on the Lectric and the lectric has a little more torque, someone that's half my weight should get 60 miles or more using a little assist. The Lectric's assist gets a little jerky on the 3rd-5th assist setting, meaning the assist is jerking when you're pedaling. My Velotric has 15 levels of assist and silky smooth, like riding a normal bike.

The Velotric is a MUCH better bike than the Lectric for about the same money. Better components, better ride, smoother, better quality all of the way around. Both are around $1600. You can also carry a spare battery and swap it out in a minute or so.

There are several kinds of E bikes, class 1,2,3. There are several types: fat tire (if you have potholes etc you probably want this), mountain bikes, touring etc.

What exactly are you planning on doing with it?

I bought both in January. I have 450 miles on the Velotric and around 300 on the Lectric.

I’m on my third one.

Currently an Aventon Ramblas ADV. Did a nice 40 mile ride today, got the bike on 5/11 and today’s ride put me at 300 miles on it so far.

I use assist “as needed”, generally only on medium or steeper grades mostly so I get exercise and to extend range. This bike is advertised as “up to 90 mile range”, my numbers suggest with my normal riding style and area I can expect 170 miles or so on a full charge.

On today’s ride I used 21% of the battery for 40 miles, probably could have got away with 19% but my ass was sore and I decided to let the bike do more so I cold get home.

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

I haven’t seen one of those at our shop yet but they look really neat. The specs seem to be on par with most of their competitors. You thinking about getting one? Their 5 year warranty looks better than most of the bikes on the market, which is typically two years.

I went riding with my old teammate at The Ridge Cycle hub in Lexington NC. That place is AWESOME! It is a super fast and flowing single-track trail with wooden wall rides, berms and jumps galore.

I started out at 100% charge on my Cannondale Moterra full suspension MTB (Bosch mid drive motor) and finished at 64% charge but I had it in the second from most powerful power setting most of the ride.

I’m gonna be feeling this tomorrow…

My wife (a touchy feely liberal that I love to pieces) loves the Sahara. I asked her if she had any idea what it 'based on'. She did not. Big Grin

We love the idea of taking the dogs with us, but realistically....really impractical bikes, regardless of cool factor.
