I'm looking for a steakhouse recommendation for Lincoln, Nebraska. We will be there in early January and it'll be our anniversary. I'd like a nice place to go for a great steak.

I'd even be willing to drive to Omaha if there's nothing in Lincoln. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

For a local place, the ones I know of are Metropolitan Grill or El Gauchos. For franchise, there is Mortons and Ruth's Chris.

I’d rather pay triple at Wendy’s and get kicked in the balls. I waited between 7 and 10 minutes to even be acknowledged when I walked in. I almost slipped and fell on the greasy floor, the chairs were unbearable, the iced tea was a brown concoction of lemon and sugar, and the restaurant has an open air design with a horrible smell wafting in.

I have eaten at El Gaucho a few times (gift cards from old CEO)…

Best steaks I have ever had. Best steak tartare I have had. Best key lime pie…

They do everything, perfectly. It’s not a very affordable place to eat, but the food is second to none.

Wow. What a disappointment. Perhaps some of the other locations were more in line with the recommender’s remembrance. I do know a few of my local favs have gone downhill in service and food since COVID. Staffing and food expense issues. What a bummer, though.

Steelhead Diner is solid and not too far from the stadium.

Near the stadiums...the dining spots around there is high-rent since its adjacent to downtown but, close enough to walk to.
My favorite carnivore hangout in SEA is Bateau, it's at the edge of Capitol Hill; they list out all the cuts they have available, erasing them as they sell-out.

Closer and in downtown area is The George and Metropolitan Grill. Both are of the typical power dinner restaurant place you'd find around a corporate-setting. George is more spacious, it's an American bistro with steaks apart of a much broader menu, whereas Met is your classic dark wood paneling, starched table-cloth, heavy sides beef palace. Both are a 1/2-2/3mile to stadium. At the other end of Capitol Hill is Ishoni Yakiniku. If you're looking for a memorable meal, this place is a Japanese grill house, similar to what you'll find in Korean BBQ where the grill is at your table. What makes them different is the broad variety of meats you can choose from, and of course their various grades of Wagyu beef.

The area south of the stadiums is SODO, Jack's BBQ is a Texas-style joint. Owner is from TX, I've enjoyed their brisket when I have the hankering while in town.

Truth be told I’m still in town. Cruise leaves Saturday afternoon. I’m 0-4 with restaurants around here. First place I ordered a patty melt. It came drenched in thousand island. Who the fuck does that? And no, it was not listed on the menu. Second stop was 13 coins. Third was Biscuit Bitch for breakfast. Gravy was barely warm. We just left a slow bar where the service was absolutely horrible. Mariners game tonight so I doubt we will have time for a steak dinner after. What a nightmare so far.

I would recommend adding Seattle to your thread title. Not a big deal but I’m in Massachusetts and have nothing to add. I had no reason to open the thread.
