LincolnSixEchoLeather holster care question
Got a pretty nice El Paso Saddlery six gun rig and after holstering a few times at the range yesterday there’s some carbon deposit along the top mouth and inside the holster. What is the best method to remove this? Should I use Ballistol or a light oil? Or just a little bit of warm water on a rag, then dry it out?

wcb6092Ballistol is advertised to clean weapons and condition leather and wood. I would test a small spot on the back to make sure it does not darken the leather.

Condition leather? When I hear that, I think "make softer and more supple." You don't want that with a holster. It doesn't need to - in fact, it's detrimental - bend like a shoe or upholstery. Just moisten a rag and wipe it off. If the holster has an open bottom, you can also take that moistened rag and pull it through like a bore patch. For further info, I'm sure EPS would give you the low-down.

LincolnSixEchoYeah, I don’t really wanna take the firmness out of the leather. I just want to wipe away the excess carbon and clean it up some.

sig operatorI would try saddle soap and a little elbow grease first.

OttoSigI use the stuff Milt Sparks sells on their website.
Renaissance Wax is the name. I bought a jar cheap on Amazon and still haven’t made a dent in it.
