As Maryland begins to reopen, I've found myself keeping a sort of mental list of businesses - putting them in two categories. 1) Businesses that discuss their status in terms of being forced to comply with government orders. 2) Businesses that discuss their status in terms of kool-aid drinking, "for your safety", "saving lives", "we worship at the altar of the state" BS. There's definitely a sliding scale here, but I think you get the idea. I'm figuring which ones will get my business when they do reopen and which ones I'll avoid if I have a choice. It's kind of like avoiding businesses that openly support leftist causes. Just curious as to whether anyone else has had similar thoughts. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

I watched something this morning on a theme park that was reopening. After watching the routine I felt like I stepped into the land of SEVERE OCD. Going through the required routines would seem to take away any enjoyment whatsoever. I think the theme park would be a great destination for the Neurotic family. Karen would be happy.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
I think the term "risk management" (as in trying not to get sued) will soon begin to be heard more and is a legitimate concern for many. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Mrs.BurtonRW was wandering through a YouTube rabbit hole and landed on a video by a mommy blogger of some sort titled 'why I'll never go back to Disney World' and got curious. This woman (who sucks at video blogging - amazing anyone follows her), let's just call her Karen, well... she says she's okay with having her temperature taken at the gate, but then goes on to say that she won't stand for limited capacity (wouldn't that make for a better experience under any circumstances??) or if she doesn't feel that it's safe to go. Before I could think too much about what she meant by that, she praised WDW's hand-washing stations as "better than sanitizer" (really? when is the last time you saw someone washing with soap and water correctly?) and believes that masks "are not foolproof" (which means that she has no idea what they're supposed to accomplish in the first place). There are many, many low-information sheeple among us. As for "risk management", I'm in that particular business and get the implications of all of this, but you can fully comply with whatever orders while expressing that you're only complying with orders to avoid legal fallout vs. the "to ensure your safety" recorded message I've heard being played at WAWA over the last couple of months. As an attorney who knows something about risk management, the phrase "to ensure your safety" made me cringe - forget about the politics. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

The local casinos are handling the reopening rather well. They can hire the best in the consulting business. No worries here seems to be the theme. They are going with the least intrusive methods to get you to stay and gamble forever. I don't think they cater to Karens.

All I know for certain is Governor "Blackfaced Coonman Baby Killer" Northam will allow indoor ranges in the populous northern counties to open last, and only after more litigation. Businesses that require a mask to enter are no longer patronized. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

Mos def. I have a little list of the companies most vociferous in tv commercials touting the party line. We are certainly NOT all in this together. My governor won't let me get a haircut, but is on tv daily, perfectly coiffed.

Go ahead punk, make my day |
Agreed. Even if you (as a business) want to "fight the power", you have to be aware of "Karens" who could get C19 at your business and sue you into oblivion. So they will reopen but will follow all CDC guidelines to be "in compliance". It's just business, after all. Not personal.

I live in md. The idiot governor opened the state to stage 1 I believe it’s called but delegated the actual authority to mayors, commissioners, and burgesses. First off, what the fuck is a burgess. Did I fall asleep and awake in some small pre war Bavarian town? Our county commissioner elected to place us at step three quarters. Fuck.

I’m with you, brother. Lockdown Larry’s political career is over. He tried to play the middle for the last 6 years and he finally got squished. What county are you in? I’ve been spending my money in the open ones. I get PG, Montgomery, and the City, but what the hell is the Frederick Co. asshole thinking keeping them closed? She’s out of her mind! -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

No way. He is playing this perfectly (politically). The scumbag liberals in this state love every stupid decision he has made to this point. Add in the fact that he has always distanced himself from Trump, which of course plays well here. He's a POS for sure but most voters love him for it. The rumors I hear is that he is gunning for a Senate seat.

the tyrant in charge of CA has decided churches may now reopen provided there's no singing, no hand holding, and no more than 25% or 100 parishioners (whichever is less) are present. Guess these limits only apply to churches and not business. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
