Just noticed some new feature about SIGforum
In the past, when you post something then go back to edit it, there would be no indication of an edit, if it was done within the hour. After one hour, the forum software would have a note at the bottom saying the time and date of the edit.

This appears to no longer be the case. You can edit your post hours later, and there is no note at the bottom. I noticed this with another member’s post yesterday. And, just a few minutes ago, I edited my post from 1AM. There were no Edit notes.

Anyone else notice this?

I thought the “edited” notation only appeared if it was edited after someone else had read the post. If you edited it before someone else viewed it, no notation.
But I could be wrong.

I’ve seen that happen before. A bug, not a feature.
In fact, you commented when I posted the report in the SIGforum Office.

^^^^ Now, that’s concerning. That I don’t remember I commented about the same thing. Eek

FWIW, I wrote and much later edited this post. It shows the edit notation. However, it was ~22 hours later. Is it possible the cutoff time between the initial post and showing the edit has been extended?

I just tested editing a post I made last night and it shows that it was edited.

When you reach my age, you will discover that memory is the second thing that you lose.

With loss of editing also comes loss of the ability to delete a post made in haste or strong reaction. I fear this will have more of an impact than inability to edit.

ETA:

When I posted this, I saw the edit icon and was able to add these words, so it looks like the "edit available" period was shortened rather than eliminated.

^^^^^ The Edit function was never eliminated. Not sure what you’re talking about.

That’s along what I’ve assumed. If someone posts a comment after yours and you edit your post, the system marks that you edited your post. If no one has posted after your post, you can edit it and it won’t be marked as having been edited. I’ve seen this happened to posts I’ve edited.

On losing stuff, i use my Apple watch frequently to “find my phone.” It’s very handy.

I’ve switched to using readers than prescriptions. To avoid having to remember to bring my readers with me, I bought several since they’re relatively cheap at $25. The problem I have now is either the glasses at a particular room is missing and I don’t know where it is or I see one room has two pairs and I don’t know which room the second one belongs to.

I’m involved in regular face to face group conversations with people I’ve known for several years. I forget people’s name and, in referring to them, I look at them, stare at them, and end up saying, “ummm,… Tom’s wife.”

I color-code the frame.

I have Apple Airtag keychain as well as a Apple Airtag wallet. Link has models purchased as well as a quick story on finding my lost keys.

I think 2 years ago I bought my first set of air tags. I just checked and I have 16 now. Although, 10 of them are on luggage including packable luggage, 7 of which are traveling with me now, including sling bags.

I have an AirTag for each of my two dogs just in case. An AirTag in the car - very handy in the Costco parking lot. An umbrella has an AirTag and a Tilley hat has one as well (I hated losing a golf hat two years ago outside).

Thanks for the idea. I’ll use a silver sharpie on the inside of the frame.
