More Terrorism here on our soil is a win/win for Biden and the Democrats. The Democrats can scold us for our racist attitude towards middle eastern people and need for us to be educated, next if there are firearms involved, he can stroke for more gun control. All works in the Dems and Joe’s favor.

Yes, I think there will be more terrorism to come. However, you have to appreciate how much we hurt them these last few years and diminished their numbers through attrition. The Air Force has been killing large numbers constantly through airstrikes the past decade, even as our ground wars slowed. The enemy has a finite number of internationally savvy operatives, and frankly we killed a lot of them. And destroyed networks. Things that are not quickly replaced. My informed opinion, having spent two decades entrenched in these fights, is that Islamic terrorism will see a resurgence eventually. But we have killed so many for so long and thrown their regions into turmoil, they are mostly focused on problems closer to home and building legitimacy for their donors. The Saudis (who fund AQ) are concerned about Iran; the proxy war in Yemen is one of the best things for our interest that has happened. It will also be informative to see what happens in Afghanistan this spring, after the winter thaw, to ascertain if they will turn into an exporter of terrorism or spend time and money shoring up local control. Bottom line those wars are certainly not over but they may be on ice for a little bit while the enemy reconstitutes. There have always been two types of jihadist: those focused nationally and regionally and those focused internationally or on the west. Ultimately they all believe in world domination because they are sick fuckers who need to be exterminated, but strategically we should focus on the latter and leave alone the former. Sometimes the former hold territory which the latter exploit, like the symbiotic relationship between AQ and the Taliban, in which case we must make it painful for all involved. my assessment is we have done enough suppression to buy us a little bit of space, but more attacks will come.
