I've been using a ceramic mug for coffee. Drip down from the Technivorm into the mug. Because it's a little messy dripping into a low mug and because I thought an insulated mug with a sippy lid would be good for keeping the coffee hot for longer and can be used in the car, I bought an insulated stainless steel tumbler (dual layer) - Yeti. The SS stains - there is a film that develops that I can't get off. It's probably safe to use but it's unsightly. I hate it. Unless I can figure out an easy way to clean the SS, I'm throwing it away and going back to ceramic mugs. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Hmmm, Okay, I'll pick some up and try it. I'll look up what denture tablets are. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

I find the best way to avoid staining is to brush it out with soap and water after every use. It only takes 20 seconds, but it takes a long time for stains to build up. When the stains do build up, there's ways to restore it. Bon Ami or Barkeeper's Friend work well on SS, though it takes a bit of scrubbing. Cold baking soda solution is also effective (hot may set stains). Finally, don't be tempted to use chlorine bleach, which some people do. It will eat into the metal surface.

I have read about denture tablets being advised for cleaning Corningware. "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye". The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, pilot and author, lost on mission, July 1944, Med Theatre.

I use a stainless steal pad, soap and water to clean my coffee mug of coffee and tea stains. Works great and leaves the mug looking new until its time to clean it again.

White vinegar in hot water and let it stand, wipe out with a J Cloth or equal. Even tougher use a 3-M after the vinegar... ____________________________ "Fear is a Reaction - Courage is a Decision.” - Winston Spencer Churchill NRA Life Member - Adorable Deplorable Garbage

I must be the outlier mine gets a hot water rinse every day or 2. A trip through the dishwasher when patina turns to Petri dish. In my defense it’s only empty once in awhile. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

I use a magic eraser to clean my stainless steel tumblers, makes them look brand new again. Although I have to admit, I still prefer the taste of coffee in a ceramic mug over a stainless steel tumbler-even if it is clean and stain free.

If you throw it away, send it my way. But seriously, the stains are of no consequence. I just put orange juice in mine, and the acidic juice does its thing. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

I'm the same. I brought my work one home to clean and my wife took the lid off, seen the brown cottage cheese under the lid and threw it away.

Mine gets cleaned with a kitchen sponge with the green pad on one side with dish soap. Every once in a while denture tablet with hot water. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Two hours with efferdent didn’t work. Maybe overnight? Will try other suggestions. May just go back to ceramic mug. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

Gloom, despair and agony on me. |
Meh you shoulda seen the last one I had before I lost it. I only rinse it out every so often with water. I see Rtic has ceramic lined drinkware now so that might be something cleans up better. https://rticoutdoors.com/Tumbl...ize=20oz&color=Black

You clean your coffee mugs? I just rinse them out, occasionally scrubbing with a brush when the deposits get too thick. I agree about materials other than ceramic or glass imparting undesired taste.
