There was a thread a number of months ago that discussed insurance companies and the one(s) preferred by the forum. Can't find it.

Who do we like for auto/homeowners etc?

I have used State Farm ever since I have been paying my own insurance and have never had a problem with them making any claims. God Bless Smile

I've had metlife for 11 years. Not sure if it's any good or not since I've never used it for any claims. I had State Farm for a while before that and I had two renters claims both were handled more than fairly.

I was treated terribly by State Farm years ago.... I never pass up the opportunity to bad mouth them.

Maybe they've changed , but I'll never know because I would never give them a nickel again. They cost me thousands of dollars.....mike

I recall it being the least expensive option company, but can't remember the name. Maybe the company veterans use?

I too have state farm. I have had zero problems with claims. Have had house hit by lightning too.
I think your agent has a lot to do with it.

Erie is great if it's in your area/state.

Amica is always one of the top rated insurance companies in the country by far over just about every other company.

I had them for a long time, and they were just great.

State Farm for decades, in California then Hawaii. Always treated fairly by them, sometimes spectacularly well.

There are some places in CA that State Farm will no longer insure for new clients due to fire risk--they were burned badly by the state of California after the big Oakland fire, had to cover much more than people had insured for.

I have had numerous car insurance companies over the years:

Progressive
Geico
USAA
currently State Farm

Only company I've made a claim with is USAA back in 2009 after something hit my front bumper. It was quickly resolved to my satisfaction.

For renters/property insurance it has been USAA and now State Farm. Fortunately I have not had a need to make a claim.

USAA just got too expensive for us so we made the switch to State Farm. The agent is local so I guess if something did happen we can drive 10 minutes and meet with him in person.

I will plug USAA, membership eligibility paid by my father in law. I've on two occasions, in two states, had other agency's agents tell me they can't touch their rates. With a single homeowner's claim, they were very easy and reasonable to work with. If you can, check USAA out.

Here's the thread that you might have been looking for: https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...980076824#1980076824

Amica comes in just slightly ahead of USAA in the most recent Consumer Reports rating.

Consumer reports did provide some state specific info - certain companies have better rates in different places.

I have two friends I hunt with that are insurance sales types. Neither work for USAA. Both said get USAA if you qualify for all their lines. We qualified thanks to my father in law who served and was a USAA member.

I spoke to an insurance broker friend to see if he can get me a better deal than State Farm, which I do every couple years and he informed me that ALL the insurance companies are jacking up their rates right now.

Didn't someone say in another thread that cars are being totaled at unprecedented levels this year?
