I need a battery for my laptop and I don't want to buy a hunk of junk that has to be replaced every six months so where is the best place to buy.

I see them at Walmart and Amazon and a few other places but they sell from third party vendors so I am not sure about their quality.

Anyone have a good source?

You could buy at a well established tech site, like cdw.com, but I’d just pick a vendor on Amazon with good reviews. Very easy shipping and returns.

The best one is OEM; the rest, you take your chances.

Can't find an oem. The original one was made by LG CHEM a Chinese company. Tried to find one made by this company but no luck.

Decided to go with the Walmart battery and purchase a 3 year warranty. Only $30.00

Agreed, MIC knock-off of something that was already MIC is a risk. LOTS of crap on E-bay and even Amazon now. I just don't trust it. Have to keep in mind catastrophic consequences of a damaged Lith. battery. If I couldn't find OEM, I would trade up. (Honestly, I'm surprise to hear of any that are not build in anyway).

Have you considered external add-on? I have a large battery pack; ~6"x2"x1/2". It has USB-a and -c outputs and will fully charge my iPhone 3-4 times or run my laptop [full blast] and extra 20-30 minutes... Have used that function many times at airports or conference rooms where a plug is not handy.

At least Walmart identified who the manufacturer is, that is more information than I could find at the other sites.
