Here’s the article, but you need to see the photos in the link to understand the process. “After you've waved goodbye to your baggage and watched it disappear along the conveyor belt behind the check-in assistant... you're left with a strip of paper. The boarding pass, your ticket to ride that you tuck into your passport and relentlessly check it's still there for two hours until - breathe - you eventually clamber the steps to your flight and give it it's final airing, waving at the air stewardess like a lottery ticket. And after that... it's dead to you. But it needn't necessarily be. For that strip of paper has a secret power you never knew existed. There is a little-known iPhone trick that allows you to check this all by scanning your pass on your Apple device. …” DailyMail article: https://mol.im/a/12084511 Serious about crackers

This works great in flight when you don't have internet... The airline app will do this for you, and works with inflight WiFi even if you don't pay for internet.

I don't know man I just got here myself |
The app Flight Aware does this and more, use it all the time. Tracks your inbound flight and often has more up to date info on your flight than the airline app.
