IMO, Christian self-flagellation is as dumb Biblically as it is medically. Complete lack of understanding of salvation by grace through faith.

To their conception of Christianity it makes perfect sense. It may be totally wrong to you. Isn't disputing religious dogma sort of silly? If it were obvious who was right, we would all have the same religion. As long as they don't whip others who don't agree with them, live and let live.
