I agree. Either our 3 letter agencies have been totally incompetent or complicit. It's my opinion they have been complicit and all of this TikTok crackdown BS is a dog and pony show designed to make the American public believe they are concerned as election season approaches. TikTok, as well as many other apps have been stealing customer data for years. Many apps steal contact information, phone history, clipboard contents as well as activate cameras, microphones and other sensors on a smart phone without the users knowledge and yet it's been allowed to continue with little to no consequences. Outside of the disagreement which neither of us will agree on FB, the real issue isn't that it's a Chinese app, or that it's gathering intel on millions of young Tik Tok users, we know this, the chinese know we know this, everybody knows this. The fix we need isn't going to come out of some government committee in DC.... The fix is to expose it, communicate it on all network and social media. The simple fix is for users to delete the app. The overlying issue here is increased government control and oversight on social media apps, censorship and political control of all content on social media by whomever is in charge in DC, that is the real issue. Government never gets things right, ever... | |||

It is much easier in totalitarian countries to ban anything. Here I would imagine that they would have to as some noted drop it from APP stores and implement severe fines for service providers that support the app. You can shut anything down in wide scale use if you make the penalties severe enough and make a few large companies into examples. HRK that is exactly the issue and you trying to obfuscate this fact to push whatever agenda you have isn’t going to change it. As for banning the app, the federal government just needs to seize Tic Tok’s bank accounts or block it’s access to the U.S. banking system and the problem will resolve itself. | |||

That's a logical contrarian position. Sort of like the patriot act (?) that was passed after 9/11 which was the pathway for the FISA warrants that was signed to spy on Donald Trump and his organization among other things that have been used against US citizens rather than foreign enemies which the law was supposedly intended to be used against.
