Why don’t you fix your little problem and light this candle |
I keep telling people. There are a lot of good kids out there, but the algorithm doesnt promote them as it is not as 'click' worthy as the idiots burning our cities down. I am lucky in that I am surrounded by these kids everyday. (WSET) — Students at Liberty University hosted the first "Murph Challenge" on campus, raising over $39,000 for local veterans. On November, dozens of student volunteers prepared for the event, which drew hundreds of participants to the Liberty Lacrosse Field to raise money for the National Center for Healthy Veterans (Valor Farms). The Murph Challenge, a workout created to honor fallen Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, is a grueling physical achievement. For the competitors, the event began at 8:20 a.m. with a 1-mile run, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and then another 1-mile run. About 250 people registered to take part in the challenge, and the top three competitors in each heat were recognized in a final ceremony. “The respect that (Liberty students) have for our military and those who have served was something that you don’t see really anywhere else in our younger population,” said United States Marine Corps veteran and participant Jackson Ayers. “Liberty University and those who came out to support the Murph Challenge make me proud to be a veteran.” A $5 admission fee gave access to any Liberty students or locals who wanted to watch the competition and browse the vendors on the field. Altogether, the Murph Challenge raised over $39,000 for Valor Farms, which is a Christian organization in Altavista offering housing, wellness workshops, faith-based counseling and other programs to veterans. This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it. -Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Joshua Painter Played by Senator Fred Thompson

That’s awesome! A lot of good happens in small ways that most people won’t see. As an example, the school my two oldest attend does a thing where students can apply to get $100 to do something for the community. My daughter and her friend received the $100, bought supplies, got other friends together and had a car wash. With the $400 the car wash raised, they went to a nursing home and had a carnival with different booths, games, and prizes. When she first told me about this, my thought was “What the heck can you do with a $100?” I’m glad she’s smarter than me.

I've always said there are a lot more good kids out there than the bad ones but ,as with anything else, the bad ones get all the publicity. "Even if the world were perfect it wouldn't be." ... Yogi Berra
