Not as lean, not as mean, Still a Marine |
Speed and convince. With my job, I have at least 5 7 page documents to send each month. Granted its not a lot, but instead of scanning to my computer and waiting to attach it to an email, I just hit the speed dial number and with of touch its sending while im doing whatever else I want to. I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

Agree, but there are STILL many government agencies (local/state/federal) and private businesses that ONLY use fax to get documents. I have asked all of them why they use faxing verses e-mail. There appears to be no clear reason. I always use the analogy... "What if you had to communicate using Morse Code today with your bank?" They don't know what Morse Code is......

Some places will not take email as an official document. I used myfax for years until everyone I was dealing with FINALLY accepted email.

Sir, I scan and email HUGE attachmets all the time. It's much quicker than using a fax machine, and with the email you are much more sure it goes through. ___________________________________________ "He was never hindered by any dogma, except the Constitution." - Ty Ross speaking of his grandfather General Barry Goldwater "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want." - William Tecumseh Sherman

An attached pdf file, with a digital signature, transmitted via email is good enough for a criminal case, it should be good enough for any other "official" purpose. ___________________________________________ "He was never hindered by any dogma, except the Constitution." - Ty Ross speaking of his grandfather General Barry Goldwater "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want." - William Tecumseh Sherman

I have not had one at the shop since about 2005 or so, scan, pdf, email, had a guy call me the other day, wanting to fax me his FFL, sorry, snap a pic or scan and email or snail mail, we don't even have a land line https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

The story I've gotten from a few places that still require the use of faxes is that they are worried about how emails stick around forever. They don't want someone to be able to get into their email a year down the road and have access to everyone's confidential documents. With a fax there's just the one paper copy (at least as long as you're receiving with an actual fax machine and not an online fax service).
