PHPaulE-Fax?
Anybody ever used an on-line E-Fax service? Is it worth the bother for a one-time fax?
I'd like to fax a form to a State office.

Oz_ShadowFor a one time fax just go to Staples.

HRKWe use Ring Central services for the company, works well, for a one time use I'd suggest you go to a office supply, UPS store, FedEx Kinkos.
If you can scan the document, does the office have an email, if so you can PDF and email to them.
To answer your question, efax services do work, we don't have issues with ours.

TwoRiversI fax from my local library.

djpaintlesDo NOT NOT NOT bother with E-Fax! They sign you up for a monthly service and it's a PITA to get it canceled. By the time I got it all canceled etc I think the one page I managed to fax cost me $10-$15.
Drive to Staples of Fedex for a fax or two, way less hassle, way less cost.
Remember, this is all supposed to be for fun...................

Jimbo JonesIf you just have 1 form, by all means go to Staples or somewhere.
My company uses faxage. Its about $9 per month.
User interface isn't fancy but it works well. Inbound faxes are converted to pdfs and emailed to you.

PHPaulI live 65 miles from a Staples.
I'm sure there's a fax place in Ellsworth, 25 miles one way.
Library is closed.
Town office wants $8 to fax 7 pages.
I'm NOT in that much of a hurry, I'll mail it.

PHPaulDOH!
My other brain cell flickered online for a minute and I remembered that my daughter is an office manager.
Emailed the PDF to her, she'll fax it for me.
Owner is a friend I've done a fair bit of work for, he won't mind.

mataiI've had good luck with HelloFax. Don't need it very often but comes in handy when I do.

rscalzoMost places no longer even maintain a fax.

MutinyI maintain a Smartfax account. It is free unless you store a bunch of old faxes with them online for more than a month. I print what I need and delete the rest, thus avoiding any costs. I don't see a downside since it is free.

ArtieSStaples is a screwing for faxing. Last time I went there, they wanted about $2/page. As I had 30 pages, that was mucho bucks.
I figured it out another way.

This is what I use. Matter of fact, i sent two FAXes today, it's free, and no advertising is attached.
Really easy to use, too.
What I haven't found yet, is a free way to receive incoming FAXes. Anybody know of one of those?

PeterGVOur business has the occasional requirement to send and receive faxes. Sometimes it’s just the only thing people will accept.
We use the eFax service HelloFax. Reasonably priced and reliable.

Rey HRHI use faxzero.com
It's free. They just put a banner ad on one of the pages.
For free: maximum 3 pages + cover. max 5 free faxes per day.
I'm thinking one file, however many pages in the file counts as just one page. I don't remember if I've sent long faxes before.
I've used it several times.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

ElToroWork gave me an E-fax Number. I was never instructed on how to send a fax with it but clients fax me documents all the time and the show up in my work email as a .pdf. It’s great. Previously clients would fax me some pages then I would have to scan it as a .pdf and then move it among electronic folders in my desktop since the scanner was being used by my entire team. So I’m gonna day I’m a heavy user and my employer pays the subscription fee but it’s very handy for my job. Plus saves paper

I used such a service over a decade ago. Now I can't fathom why anyone would prefer fax over emailing a scanned document as an attachment.
