I lived part of what happened and knew other things from other officers who were there from the start (KevinCW probably knows more, he was there almost every night). Jackson's book goes beyond that and includes the behind the door meetings with DOJ Officials, Politicians (Nixon, McCaskill, the Media Cocksuckers, etc.) Just reading about what was said and done is eye opening, for example: at one meeting prior to the Grand Jury results, the DOJ Official told them they could not use tear gas and to let the protestors take over the police station (you know the "room to destroy" strategy).

I am only 33% through the book.......I will probably need large amounts of alcohol to get through the whole chapter on the DOJ.

It's bad enough that the protesters rioters were allowed to burn down businesses and loot but to be told by DOJ to allow them to take over the police station?

Spotlight on Ferguson to shine again as National Urban League conference begins in St. Louis

FERGUSON • Across the country, the image of a burning QuikTrip in August 2014 came to symbolize the anger and violence after the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer.

On Wednesday morning, the National Urban League will use the site of the former convenience store to officially kick off its four-day conference in St. Louis, expected to draw more than 20,000 people. Where the QuikTrip once stood on West Florissant Avenue is a new job training and education center, co-owned by the local Urban League and the Salvation Army.

The new 13,500-square-foot facility is formally named the Ferguson Community Empowerment Center.
