A Minneapolis teachers union contract stipulates that white teachers will be laid off or reassigned before “educators of color” in the event Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) needs to reduce staff.

After the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers (MFT) and MPS struck a deal on March 25 to end a 14-day teacher strike, the two sides drew up and ratified a new collective bargaining agreement complete with various proposals.

One of the proposals dealt with “educators of color protections.” The agreement states that if a non-white teacher is subject to excess, MPS must excess a white teacher with the “next least” seniority.

Cannot see this happening. I gather there is a union and the provision is generally last hired, first fired. Great proposal for sowing dissatisfaction. This the Ben Crump proposal?

I would say tough luck. This is what the white teachers have supported. Let them reap the consequences.

Honestly I agree in the sentiment, but it doesn't change the fact that this runs flat out counter to the equal protections offered under the 14th amendment.

But then again I suppose we've all been using different definitions of the word "equal" this whole time...

Hmm, I seem to recall hearing about a teacher shortage. A policy like this should really help boost recruiting of new white teachers coming out of teaching colleges...or maybe not.

Later this month and early next month at some School Districts will kickoff the annual Teacher Extortion Contract strikes. Within these districts teachers will refuse to start classes until they are paid a 'fair wage' (read: Union wage). They'll march around in red t-shirts with pickets. Now white leftist teachers in Minneapolis have been thrown under the bus where they can enjoy a good thumping.
