| For the weight Columbia with their silver reflective is pretty warm. Easily layers depending on just how cold. Not poofy either. When I lived in Maryland winters I could get warm enough for any activity. |

| I prefer Kuhl jackets. Even though I brought two jackets, I did long trips to Iceland twice in March and only used the Kuhl jacket, wind, rain or snow. Wool sweater underneath and rain shell as needed, but the jacket was great.

| I have a Columbia shell with the reflective liner plus a zip-in fleece liner. It works great, warm and water resistant both. |

| 40 years of hunting and midwest winter living, I think Columbia coats are excellent.

| I’ve had an Eddie Bauer down coat I almost never wear because it is TOO hot. In 20 degree temps, I wear it unzipped and am still sweating! I live close to the Tanger outlet malls here near San Marcos, Texas so I’ve gotten good deals on Columbia jackets. But, if I wanted to pay a little more for more prestige, but get same performance, I’d shop there at the North Face outlet. I like what I see, but just don’t want to pay the extra bucks for the name. Patagonia is way out of my league.
