Yesterday my kid says, “what’s that” and pointed to the table where all the keys and wallets stay. I said oh it’s the security panel just changing modes. The light changes…he thought it was my phone, but I had my phone next to me.

Few minutes later I see a white light flash over there and go look…it’s my microstream flashlight.

So I think, hey it’s some kinda way for it to tell me the battery is low. I go change the battery and no joy, it won’t work.

Try another battery, nothing…

I’ve never seen an led just die.

I’ve never dropped it.

It sits clipped to my pocket and doesn’t do anything else.

Anyone have any idea?

Call streamlight...i'll bet they warranty it. Wish mine had died...I lost it, and even buying a new one didn't make it turn up.

I've had several die on me. No reason. Just sit in the drawer and used occasionally. They last about 1-2 years and then need to be replaced.

I've had better luck with other models (CR123A battery based). These seem more robust.

Only problem I've had with them is the mini port crapping out. They got fussy when charging, not making a connection. Then eventually no connection at all.

There's a circuit board in there, I imagine. I would suspect that before I would suspect the LED. Streamlight might be willing to repair/replace if you send it to them, but since these lights are around 20 bucks, it may be better to get a new one.

I read somewhere in passing that there is a known issue / common failure related to the cap I think (I can't remember the details). I didn't pay attention because I had decided to no longer purchase this model (given the number of failures I've already had). Even if the fix is relatively simple, the failure will happen when I need it most and the spare part will be elsewhere.

I've decided to buy models that are more reliable after my current ones die.

You could bury it at home or have it cremated.

I've heard of folks having them freeze dried and displayed on the mantel but that's just weird.

Had a flicker in my streamlight. Called them and they sent out a new button and it fixed my issue. My experience with them was very good. You might have to send yours in though.

I've got a couple of them but I no longer use them as I had one die very suddenly at the wrong time.

Fortunately, I carry 2 flashlights at all times, one of them a SureFire, since the San Francisco Blackout of 1998.

I checked to make sure you didn't have a typo. But I see there is a microstream.

I have a macrostream and it ran out of juice for me recently. I go find my battery charger, open the light, and was flumoxed by the battery I saw. It didn't look like the 18620 (or something like that) that I am used to. I had to look it up and found out I pull out the head to uncover a USB charging port. It's been that long ago since I charged it that I forgot. Or maybe that was a month ago. Anyways, that's still too long ago for me.

Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." ITS ALIVE!!!!!!

So I was monkeying with it and realized I have another one (from lowes) and I went to swap the tail cap.

The tail cap didn’t fit, but I swapped out that battery and VOILA..light.

Went back to the battery cabinet and began testing them all….seems the kid “changed” out the batteries in his controller with new ones and put the old ones in the container.

Thanks Vthoky for the awesome offer. But I’m GTG.

Glad you got it figured out. Funny thing, I’ve carried a micro stream almost every day for the last few years. Great little light. Last night I was shopping on Amazon for something and a FDE finished micro stream was offered. Being only 20.00 something and change, I bit. I have Prime. It was delivered this morning at 0600. It’s charging as I type this and go into the rotation.

I believe the FDE model turns on in high mode and you have to press the button again to get to low mode. Hopefully that user interface works for you.
