I'm a little surprised they would choose Wisconsin. My brother lives there and the taxes he pays are ridiculous.

Appleton is a nice city, however. I lived there as a kid.

I'm 64 I hope I don't have to flee the state before I expire. Lake home tax is always ridiculous especially if you can't homestead it. Aka: Rich man problems. I avoided it by purchasing 3 acres across the road from the lake so my property has no water touching it. I own a piece of another lot about a half mile down the road that is on a bay on the lake where the dock and boat are. Property taxes last year were $285. I can still see the lake from my property and can be down at my dock in a 5 minute walk or a 2 minute ride in the side by side. I call it poor mans lake property. Wink

Mosaic started as the fertilizer division of Cargill, which was split off from Cargill and named Mosaic. Cargill subsequently divested of Mosaic. Cargill has a huge presence in Minnesota, while Mosaic does not. Mosaic moving its headquarters to Florida isn't a reflection on Minnesota at all, it doesn't have any mining or production there. On the other hand, they own 280,000 acres of phosphate mine's in Florida.

That's like moving to Wisconsin to escape the Minnesota winters.

It was frikkin' Brainerd. Apart from the Toolmaster and Margie Gunderson, who wouldn't want to move from Brainerd?

Those states that experience fleeing businesses and residents simply don't care. They don't care because they're Leftists/Socialists. Their mantra merely tells them to double-down in bad decisions. The biggest example of this is CA. They just increased their tax on gas to make up for reduced taxation due to their increased taxes on businesses and residents. You simply cannot fix a Leftist/Socialist.... look at Venezuela.

I know a corporate exec at Fleet Farm in Appleton and he told me today that all there corporate services are currently scattered in six locations. Most of them in Appleton. The office in Minnesota just houses most of their accounting support staff. They are building a new true corporate building in Appleton and are consolidating all corporate locations.

Yeah, that works so well for Illinois...
Also in a brilliant move and kick in the nuts to it's on the border gas station owners Illinois doubled it's gas tax. Now the drivers have a great incentive to spend their fuel dollars in the bordering states instead of Illinois. State is run by liberal morons!

Wisconsin WAS on the right track for business'. But we lost the best governor we ever had (Walker) to another liberal jackass. But fortunately the legislature is still (R).

I heard this story today about a guy that owns a gas station in South Beloit Illinois. Most of the station is in Wisconsin but there is a small part of it out back where he keeps his dumpster that's on the Illinois side. Illinois allegedly wants 2K a week or a month ( I forget which ) in tax money.
