Peace through superior firepower

Not that I would want to be attacked by anything, but they don't seem much of a threat to the British vessel.
The gesture is the issue, not the effectiveness of their goofy shit.

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best

we fired an 5" 38 cal illum round into space between us and them, while they were still a few miles out.
normal practice would be to put illum behind them, so they are silhouetted - but CO thought it would be sporting to let them see what they were heading towards. The turned tail, and headed home at warp speed.
5" 38 VT frag set for 10 meters above water surface air burst would do the job. Or leave it to the MARDET M2s and Mk19s if they get in too close.
But the ROE then and now did not include just opening fire, they'd have to shoot or get too close to the ship.
Like CCW, you'd have to have reasonable fear for life or property.
And this is why I wish we still had Battleships. Those little pissants could have thrown everything they had againt the side of the Iowa and barely made a dent. But to a thin-hulled destroyer, hamstrung by political sensibilities and not allowed to engage until they've closed distance...they could actually be a threat. I realize those days are over, but thanks for sharing the story, Feersum. The mental image of those Iranian sailors crapping their pants when they realized what they were messing with gave me a good chuckle . |

Yeah, back in the day we worried about those coming out of their base near Bandar Abbas. One silkworm launch at us would have triggered a full alpha strike in response. E.g., empty the 16” magazines, move in and use up as much 5” as we could, launch all the non-nuke tomahawks, all as prep for air strikes off the Midway, then cruising in the North Arabian Sea. Ah, memories of what could have been a great few days...

I'm sick and tired, beyond that actually, of these bull fucking shithole Iranian puddle jumpers. Para is exactly right, Trump can solve this easily, cheaply, and immediately (emphasis again on all three in particular) by blowing them completely (as in little pieces) out of the water after the fucktards cross the line after the second warning (which they don't actually deserve). After that, no more stupid shit, done, solved, let's move on to more profitable missions. Yes there's politics, but then there's POLITICS. How bout some of them politics ! Works every time, and has always worked like that every single fucking time throughout millenia. Hit back the bully in school, and he finds someone else to raise hell with. It's really that simple, even in global politics I believe after you reach a certain point, and I think we passed that point some time ago. PC BS in those waters is pure fucking bullshit at this point. I hope trump gets even more direct and to the point now more than ever on this and all the ohter stupid PC fronts. For other Americans who feel the same way it's about time for a nice barbequeue, but this time all the liberal shitheads, Iranians, illegal aliens, socialists, communists, schumers, perverts, pussy study graduates, and whatever the fuck stupid asshole fucking PC group you belong to, no, you are NOT invited any long to any barbequeues. Go fuck yourselves. I think Dick Cheny so aptly and properly resurrected that term not to long ago. Cmon Pres Trump, you've kicked some ass and taken names, now it's time to stop taking names and just really raise fucking hell with all the shitheads wherever they stand crawl or hide. I think I'm done now thank you (or not).

| In 1982 the Danish frigate, the HDMS Peder Skram, accidentally fired a Harpoon missile during maneuvers. It seems to have fired without the firing key being engaged. The system had undergone maintenance and was in the process of being checked by an expert from the navy material command. To this day the ship is nicknamed “Whoops.” Perhaps we should send the Danes into the Gulf for some “routine maintenance.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...ile_misfire_incident

That was the second incident, which made the score US-4 Libya-0. First one was in '81. What needs to happen is to utilize the new Expeditionary Mobile Bases and get-on with another OP Earnest Will or, Praying Mantis |

| How would they deploy the mines they have, and where are they stored? That place should get lit up immediately after their attack boats are sunk. |
