^When I was on prescription opiates, it's not that I enjoyed the side effects, it's just that it was (incrementally) better than pain.

Same. I refuse to take opiate pain meds unless there's no alternative and I can't just deal with the pain.

NSAIDS are more effective for me than opiates ever were. It is important to realize that not all opiates are alike and some may be more effective than others.

^^^ Ascending aortic aneurysm, with associated chest pain. Yeah, I'm not surprised they are going to repair you. Prayers for a successful outcome and quick recovery.

Instead of rushing to unnecessary operation, they went over the scan again, evaluated your heart status, and found the real cause of your chest pain. I'd say, they did a very thorough evaluation. So now, it's just watchful monitoring, instead of recovering from surgery.
