Ice age heat wave, cant complain. |
Looking at making a move to another company. The potential new company is headquartered in Canada but manufacturers goods (in Asia) that are ultimately sold in the US. I'm trying to understand what my tax implications would be if I was a W2 employee (or Canadian equivalent) versus a contractor. Is it possible for me to be a W2 type employee? Would I be better off going forward as a contractor? Are their additional taxes that I should assume from foreign employment? Thanks, NRA Life Member Steak: Rare. Coffee: Black. Bourbon: Neat.

I don't know anything about the tax questions, but a Canadian company I worked for specifically excluded its American employees from its retirement program, so check that carefully. It was a fun few years, but when they asked me to relocate, the lack of any retirement benefits was one reason I declined and left the company. -------------------------- Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. -- H L Mencken I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. -- JALLEN 10/18/18
