Don’t feel bad. According to the AZ society for CPA’s they are still processing refunds from 2019 returns

odinSorry, folks! My regular tax person bailed on me. Sent him emails, left voice messages, NADA.
Luckily, I found someone else and sent them my tax info. Within 6 days of filing, I received my refund....

Sounds like you have it figured out about as good as you can.

stickman428It’ll be 5 weeks today since I electronically submitted my taxes and they were accepted. Still no return. I wonder what the hell is taking so long!?
I wonder if the child credits are holding it up? I have a lot of chirrins and added a new one to our circus last year.

It's over 9 weeks for me and I can't seem to be able to get a live human being on the phone to explain what the F is going on. Everything is automated and shunts you right back to the phone version of "where's my refund" app/website.

stickman428If you do manage to get a hold of an actual human being and they are able to give you any helpful info please relay it along. This is the longest my federal return has ever taken. I had my state return weeks ago.

stickman428I think I know why mine is delayed.
“ The IRS is holding 29 million tax returns for manual processing, delaying tax refunds for many Americans, according to the National Taxpayer Advocate, an independent arm of the tax agency that looks out for consumers' interest.
A recent notice from the IRS said that some people may experience a longer than average wait for their payments. That may especially impact tax returns that need a correction due to changes made by the Recovery Rebate Credit — a tax credit adjustment for people who were owed more stimulus money — or to verify income for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), according to the agency.“
Link to article I qualify for two of those reasons why your refund could be delayed. I’m fairly confident that triggered my return to be manually processed which will probably take a damn long time as they are still catching up on 2019 returns.

So do I. We had a baby in August 2020 and I applied for her to receive whatever 2020 stimulus she was eligible for that we hadn't gotten.

stickman428This is approaching ridiculous territory. Tomorrow will be two months since those turds received my paperwork via electronic filing and still nothing. If the shoe were on the other foot those assholes wouldn’t nearly be as patient. F the IRS. They owe me a late fee at least. 21 days my ass.

I thought we had our deductions set to basically break even but this year we will get a rather sizable return....if they ever get off their damn ass and process the MFn thing.

Yes, something is very wrong here. We are in the same exact boat here unfortunately here and at the mercy of the .gov
Tomorrow is 14 weeks for us, this has never happened before, we usually get our refund in 3 weeks tops.
I found an article outlining how to bypass all the many IRS voice prompts and get to a live human being and tried calling on Friday. It rang like 3 times then I got a message basically saying “sorry, we are overwhelmed and can’t help you at this time. Goodbye.” I was hung up on.

I assume this is why ours is held up. We had a child last July. Normally only a couple weeks.

JupiterI'm sure dealing with the IRS can be frustrating PASig. I hope you get everything straight soon.
I waited until the last day to file and my refund was deposited into my account last week.

I'm one week shy of two months. I don't feel as worried, seeing many are also waiting. My state refund arrived two weeks ago though.

stickman428Can anyone find any kind of time frame for how long it will take if you do happen to be one of the unfortunate people to be put into the manual review cue? I’ve looked and looked and I cannot find any kind of info on how long it will take. This is ridiculous, infuriating and unacceptable. The IRS needs to unfuck themselves. Apparently the ungodly amount of taxes we pay isn’t enough the motherfuckers feel the need to drag their feet while at the same time demanding a deadline from Americans with a penalty for insubordination. Hypocritical assholes they are.

bettysnephewWell folks, it can be much worse. I had to file an amended return for 2019 as there were changes in some of the laws regarding my taxes. The changes were to $700 in my favor so very much worth filing the amended return. Due to it being an amended return, the minimum turn around is 16 weeks and it cannot be electronically paid into my account as I do with my normal return, it has to be a hard copy mailed check. Waiting patiently.

stickman428Well this is quite interesting. If it’s true that something like 29 million tax returns are being manually reviewed this doesn’t give them a big window to manually review the returns.
