Charles Payne of FBN suspended over sexual harassment charge.

One has to wonder, if the climate really this bad for women at FNC or is something else afoot here? As in the wives of the Murdock sons.

It could be an attempt to root out the old school for a newer more liberal leaning group.

3 year affair with a woman who worked at CNN.... what was he thinking?

Two adults, mutual consent, what could go wrong?

What was that in the other thread about a few free rides?

She was just working overtime for a deferred payday.

I'd be curious to know if

1) This sort of thing is relatively common in the media business.

2) How much of this has some basis in reality and how much of it is generated for other purposes?

3) How much of this is purely ego driven?

Do we have anyone here who is/was in the journalism/media business? I spent 45+ years in the telecom/IT/IS business and I can count all of the similar incidents that I know of on one hand and have fingers left over and none of those were anything like the seemingly prevalent stories we're hearing from media.

The big surprise here is that there are people with low moral standards working for cable news networks.

I had a part-time job at our local NPR station for about 18 months. I used to help the News staff get the stories ready for broadcast. It was a student job, wasnt worth much. But, at least in the NPR station there were some incidence of hanky-panky going on. A few in-the-closet gay guys were having affairs with a few single gay guys at the station, and one guy was a professional gay whore, and he was quite open about it, and he boasted about his exploits quite often.
Never heard about guys harassing sexually any of the women at the station, though.

Is there really something to it, or a case of "didn't know she was 'harassed' until the check bounced?"

Why is this only happening at Fox? Roger Ailes, Bill O'Reilly, and now Charles Payne. If it's happening at one network, I'm sure it's going on at other networks.

Maybe it's an effort to hobble/eliminate Fox News. At the other networks, the gals have affairs and end them, no extra charge. They work at a noble profession, at a noble organization. It's doing God's work!

So to recap, some married broad was banging Charles, and now she wants a payday. Solution: Give her a check for $20 per occurrence, and tell her its the going rate for a garden variety whore. Then tell Charles get back to work and be more selective.

I thought it might be something like that. Networks like CNN and MSNBC are too noble to employ anyone who would indulge in something like sexual harassment.

They tend to be all of the same mind, i.e. All lib progs. Why hurt your guys?

OTOH, when you are working at Fox, as a lib prog, it's just a job, pay rent, eat, etc. until you can get to the real news. After a nice affair, you can strike a blow for your kind, bank some cash, earn envious glances from your girl friends and spruce up your invisible resume, if you play your cards right.

I've seen quite a bit in the Consulting / IT world (~25yrs in my case). My experiences have shown me that a fair amount happens most anytime you throw together a bunch of well paid folks who work long hours, travel together, away from home a bunch together, especially the prototypical attractive and successful and social sorts. I've been on projects with anywhere from 20-2000 of them at once. Lots of fucking going on, some of it extra-marital and the like, some of it more like college kids on spring break, and everything in between.

Anecdotal, of course, but something...

So, if I understand this, Payne and this female had a 3 year affair.

Now, she wants to claim sexual harassment.

I assume she wanted a huge payoff and didn't get it, so she makes some threats that get him suspended.

Used to be they had a lot of females like her that frequented 14th (?) street in D.C. Or as they called it when we lived in MD, hooker heaven.
