Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo are prepared to testify at the upcoming trial for Empire actor Jussie Smollett, according to their lawyers, who also mentioned that the two brothers will not feel vindicated unless Smollett is found guilty of lying to police, adding that they do not have any “ill will” toward the actor — only toward his lawyers, for calling them “liars.”
“They have no ill will towards Mr Smollett,” said Gloria Schmidt Rodriguez — one of the lawyers for the Osundairo brothers — to the Daily Mail.
“They really feel like their role in this now is to be honest about what they know,” she added. “They hope he can be honest about what he knows.”

In other words, the Osundairo brothers cut a deal.
His lawyer, Tina Glandian, entered the not guilty pleas on his behalf to six counts of felony disorderly conduct. She also told Judge James B. Linn that she has asked the Illinois Supreme Court to halt the case.
Smollett’s lawyers had requested a delay in the arraignment, saying they were filing paperwork with the state’s high court and a motion in Linn’s courtroom to dismiss the indictment on double-jeopardy grounds.
Linn did not delay the proceedings and instead set a $20,000 individual bond, releasing Smollett on his own recognizance, and ordered him to return to court March 18.
Smollett’s lawyers filed motions with the state’s high court Monday seeking a stay in the criminal case in Chicago, and asking that a prior court order establishing lawyer Dan Webb as special prosecutor be vacated. The order “vested the special prosecutor with overly broad duties that have now resulted in a second prosecution of Mr. Smollett, on identical charges that were previously nolle prossed by the duly-elected State’s Attorney,” the motion states.

Chicago sucks. Cook County sucks. If those nitwits can't see that she's a cancer on the City and County then they are beyond hope. The ONLY hope Chicago has (and it's a very small hope) is that Chris Pfannkuche can somehow convince the voters that he can do a better job than Foxx. But I doubt he can do that because he's a Republican and the voters in Chicago/Cook County only vote for Democrats no matter how inept and corrupt they are.

Federal Judge Throws Out Jussie Smollett's Action Against Chicago Police A federal judge threw out Jussie Smollett’s malicious prosecution lawsuit against the city of Chicago and several police officers on Wednesday.
Smollett’s attorneys filed the countersuit in November 2019 after the city of Chicago sued him for $130,000 in costs related to its investigation of the former “Empire” actor’s claims that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in January 2019.
The countersuit claimed the city prosecuted him in such a way that caused “humiliation, mental anguish and extreme emotional distress,” as well as financial harm, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall said that Smollett couldn’t file a malicious prosecution claim until all of the proceedings against him had concluded, Fox News reported.
Smollett was indicted in February on six new counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to the police about what he claimed happened to him.

New criminal charges against actor Jussie Smollett do not violate his right against double jeopardy, a Cook County, Illinois judge ruled Friday.
Judge James Linn said the case against Smollett, the former Empire TV star accused of setting up a false claim of assault by two men who uttered racial slurs, will continue. …
Smollett previously agreed to forfeit his $10,000 bond and made no admission of wrongdoing in exchange for having 16 charges against him on the phony assault case dropped. The decision to drop the case was controversial and sparked outrage among law enforcement and government officials.
Linn Friday said the agreement Smollett reached with prosecutors in 2019 was not considered punishment, because the actor never admitted wrongdoing. At the time, Smollett agreed to forfeit his bond to Chicago police and do community service.
“There was no trial in this case, there was no jury empaneled, no witnesses were sworn, no evidence was heard, no guilty pleas were ever entered … nothing like that ever[] happened,” Linn said of the 2019 case. “There was no adjudication of this case.”
Linn also noted Smollett’s new case was brought after another judge, Michael Toomin, ruled that his first prosecution was void because Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx improperly recused herself.
The new case was brought by attorney Dan Webb, whom Toomin appointed as a special prosecutor.
