What is your source for this? Everything I see says the charges were dropped. That's very different from a plea.

I’ve read a couple different articles at lunch, and all the wording is a little different. The below article appears to indicate that there was no plea, they nole proces’d (decline to prosecute), evidently in exchange for 100K-

“While it was not immediately clear what prompted prosecutors to drop the charges against Smollett, a spokesperson for the Cook County State Attorney's Office noted that the actor will forfeit a $100,000 bond.”

“The spokesperson, however, said that there was no plea deal, but rather an "agreement," and that no community service will be required of Smollett.”

This is a pretty big announcement. I'm going to be in the minority here and think there just might be more to this than we think.

His ship was already sunk. For someone to come out and drop the charges and risk personal/professional destruction to "save" someone who the public had already crucified strikes me as odd.

I kind of think there might be something that we're missing. The media was very wrong wit Trump, perhaps they had it wrong on this guy too? I haven't really followed the case that well, but I think it's interesting to make such a public reversal if there really isn't grounds for it. Why risk your career/jail over this guy if he is really guilty?

If I'm wrong, this is a whole new level of blatant corruption. I have trouble believing they're this obvious about it though.

So you think Obama would risk an obstruction of justice conviction/investigation over this dude? That just doesn't compute for me.

I agree his story has holes, but there are also holes in this corruption is why he got off angle too. Something just feels off about all of this. I don't think this is as simple as we're making it.

I'd like to see a city wide blue flu. Until that happens or another statement is made I'm assuming the CPD is just as in on it and corrupt as the politicians.

"Crimesha" Foxx/Crooke County PA is very corrupt and connected with this particular case up to the fake weave in her hair.

She charged Officer Van Dyke with aggravated assault for EACH round he fired at McDonald. This is the ONLY case that has ever occurred.

my take on this is that we have thousands of laws on the books which are absolutely meaningless

if we ever want justice on anything, we will have to take it ourselves since the system is incapable of providing it
