Going to be in this area shortly. Restaurant recommendations please. Not interested in the super expensive. And, what's the name of the Hungarian sausage place that I have heard Adam Carolla rave about?

Goose5, give us more details of your visit. We should get some SigForum members together for a lunch or something.

Anyone here interested to getting together with our fellow SigForum Member form Colorado?

HK Guy thanks for the thought, but I'll be there briefly. Quickly moving south to St Peter to visit my son at Gustavus.

What do you like to eat?

For Chinese there is the Supper Moon Buffet with every Chinese dish you can think of. The Mai Thai Cafe has some interesting dishes.

Are you into American bistro or pub food? We have an assortment to choose from. You can get your Guinness on at Brits Pub, or visit on the few actual diners that are sprinkled about the town.

What and when would you have free time to explore with us?

I take it there with be no time for the range, but let me know if you want to stop a local range.

My daughter wants to see the Mall of America. I'm not sure if that will be first or last. So, I know at some point we will be in that area. We will be out again in May when he graduates and we'll be driving that time. Perhaps I'll have more time to get together that time. St. Peter is a great area. Love it there. My son is participating in the Gustavus Adolphus Christmas concert as a senior in the G choir. This will be the second time we have been in attendance for this presentation. It is quite simply the best Christmas concert I have ever seen or participated in.

I will second this motion. I have been in choirs in high school and college. Nothing compares to what he is doing. Its on a whole different level.

There's Buster's on 28th in north Mpls. Excellent and has been featured on Triple D.

Better yet about 20 minutes SW of St. Peter on Hwy 99 is a spit of a town called Nicollet. There's a sausage and meat shop there called Schmidt's. Go there. Some fantastic sausage choices and great cuts of meat. they are not open Sundays.

If you want to continue about 15 minutes further to New Ulm (born and raised there) they have the 5th oldest brewery in the country I believe. Schells brewery. You can tour it and sample all the beers and they have some excellent ones. It sits on a very scenic estate. Peacocks wander around loose and they have a large fenced in area where they keep deer.

A great gift shop as well. Enjoy your trip and have a safe one. Oh if you see long lines of Somali's in Minneapolis they are still voting. Big Grin

Matt's Bar is a neat and semi-famous place. Brit's Pub is wonderful downtown. I like Pazzaluna's in St. Paul. Sweeny's Bar on Dale Street in St. Paul also, which is a block from the Muddy Pig - another cool bar.

Any recommendations for Rochester (about 90 miles southeast of MPLS)? I'll be there the first week of December.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

Was it Kramarczuk's ? I'm pretty sure that's Ukrainian - and can highly recommend that. If you do get to that area of Minneapolis and like cheese - walk on over to Surdyk's Liquor & Cheese Shop - pretty much any kind of cheese you can imagine, plus they have Cheesemongers who will gladly slice a sample of any cheese they have in the store.

I like Gluek's Restaurant & Bar (German beer hall) and The Local (Irish Pub) both in downtown Minneapolis.

My daughter was a part of the choir. They certainly have an outstanding program at Christmas. Tickets aren't that easy to come by we've found.

Enjoy the program.

It’s been years since I lived in the Twin Cities, but I used to love The Black Forrest Inn at 26th & Nicollet (German food & beer).
