Several times I have noticed forum members sharing links to WSJ articles. However, many of the articles on the WSJ are for subscribers only. If are you current subscriber to the WSJ and were not aware of this, open a private, cookie free window to the WSJ home page. The articles only available to subscribers can be identified by a key icon after the title of the article. To share WSJ articles for all to read:
WSJ does not mind if you do this as they have share on Facebook and Share on Twitter icons too. They want subscribers to share articles to turn non-subscribers into subscribers, and their software even thanks you for sharing an article. Sharing also allows the WSJ to know which articles are most shared. Addenda: I used to mail from my WSJ-linked Yahoo account to a Gmail account, thinking that using two email addresses was necessary, but that is currently not the case. Their software currently allows you to share the article with yourself. Do not try share articles using this method if you have good reason to very concerned about the WSJ knowing that you are a SIGforum member or if you're just very concerned about your privacy. (In the second case, you should be browsing with Tor). The URL generated using my method of sharing WSJ articles will contain a 'shareToken' which is a 31 character hash that the WSJ could trace back to your account. Besides creating this topic to inform members of how to share WSJ articles, whenever I see a WSJ URL posted here, I always check to see if it is readable by all members by copying and pasting the URL into a private window. Previously, I posted the instructions above. Since this disrupts the flow of the thread, now I’m just going to post a link to this topic. If we can get this working, I encourage “you” to do the same. Feel free to test here, but not in the SIGforum office. Any questions? | ||
